Has anyone research as to the source of the name of New Berlin in Jacksonville? Also did that area have its own cemetery back in 1860? Any assistance would be appreciated. I am trying to tie in a Dr. Henry (von) Balsam or Balson to the area of New Berlin. Thank you. Judy Rollins St. Augustine
Judy, Could your Henry Von Balson be related to Richardson Von Balson? He died in 1860 and is buried in the New Berlin Cemetery along with several more Von Balsons. He was 30 years old at the time of his death. I just last month completed a survey of this cemetery and have the info which has also been placed in the Hayden Burns Library. I hope this helps!
