Yes, I often refer to the Old Mayport Cemetery as the Old Pablo Cemetery because the little settlement of Pablo and the Pablo house of the Dewees and Taylor families was nearby there long before Mayport was an idea in the mind of Amander Parsons or Gibbs, whichever called it that. My perception is that the settleent of Pablo dates back to the time the Spanish had a redoubt there to guard the entrance to San Pablo Creek. I do not recall the name Jones in Mayport, but the Mier name is familiar. I think the late Helen Cooper Floyd may have mntioned the Miers in her wonderul stories about Mayport in the <<good old days>> and some that were not so good.
