    3. hi jo - sorry for the delay in getting back to you; i'm working on a lot of new additions to my family data. the information that i have for the Lee Kirkland Cemetery is that the tax records show it in the name of the City of Jacksonville Beach. it gives the address of the cemetery as 300 Palm Tree Rd, Jax Bch. i do not have a specific phone number to call, other than calling the city hall for Jax Bch. the H. Warren Smith Cemetery is also listed on the tax rolls as being the property of the City of Jacksonville Beach. the history of the cemetery given on the Tombstone Transcription Project says, "This 18 acre cemetery has always been on land owned by the City of Jacksonville Beach, Florida. The yellow fever epidemic of 1888-1889 brought the need to convert the property to a burial ground. The name originated from the first caretaker, H. Warren Smith. The current caretaker, Ike McBride, has been in charge of the cemetery for 20 years. He was gracious enough to provide me with the plot plans of the entire 18 acres. Since all plots have been sold, and there are a tremendous number of unmarked graves, the plans helped identify plot numbers. There are 4,000-5,000 burial sites with approximately 3,500 headstones." the cemetery is bordered by Beach Blvd, Penman Rd and 2nd Ave N. five entrances divide the grounds into eleven sections. wish i could be a little more (specific) help to you on this, julie ----- Original Message ----- From: [email protected] To: [email protected] Sent: Tuesday, July 24, 2001 10:10 PM Subject: Re: [FLDUVAL] CEMETERY Thanks Julie. I'm beginning to think my great grandparents are buried at the beaches in an unmarked grave either in Warren Smith cemetery or the one across the street from there. Do you know who I could contact to get a full list of those buried in those cemeteries? Jo.
