Julie, Do you have specific directions to the Jones Cemetery? Your list mentions Magill Rd. I can find the area in my Trakker Street Atlas but the cemetery is not marked and it is not included in the index. The cemetery is connected to my research through the Ogilvie line. Look forward to your reply. Harriett
hi harriett - the directions that were given me are to take Jones Road (you can pick up Jones Road at Commonwealth Ave, Old Plank Rd or W.Beaver St) going north. Jones Rd will make a sharp turn to the left. do not turn left. Magill Rd.N turns to the right. turn right onto Magill Rd.N. go a little way down Magill Rd and you will see an older white house on your left. the cemetery is behind the house off to the right. i am told, "just go up to the house and ask the folks there if you can visit the cemetery." i am also told that there is a lady that lives in a trailer in back of the house that you can talk to about the cemetery; she says she owns the property. her name is Ruby Blount Jones (the tax records have the property in the ownership of Ruby Jones) and her phone number is (904)695-2939. i have not personally been to this cemetery yet, so i hope the directions and information are accurate. please let me know how your trip out there goes. julie ----- Original Message ----- From: jangil1 To: [email protected] Sent: Tuesday, July 10, 2001 5:33 PM Subject: [FLDUVAL] Jones Cemetery Julie, Do you have specific directions to the Jones Cemetery? Julie, Thanks for the directions to Jones Cemetery. I plan to call Ms. Jones tomorrow to make arrangements for a visit Thursday afternoon or Friday. Will let you know of my success or lack thereof. Will be going to Picketts or Lem Turner Cemetery as well. One more question for you. Is there a cemetery called Dyal on your list? I can't seem to find it and thought it may be called by a different name. I want to visit that one later. Again related to the Ogilvie research. Look forward to hearing from you. hi harriett - i hope those directions to the Jones Cemetery work. i think Yvonne posted them to the list at one time, so i saved them in my notebook. please do let me know (through the list would be best) how your trek goes. As for Dyal Cemetery...let me get my cemetery notebook back out; i've been working hard and heavy on my Thames line and have been making great inroads on that, so i've got my desk covered with Thames stuff...ok, i don't have anything specific on it. maybe dianne or someone else on the list has collected some into on Dyal Cemetery. what i can tell you is that, in my county map book, the village of Dyal is just northwest of Callahan. it appears, from the map, that you can take USl/301 out of Callahan, turn left on County Road 115, go over two bridges (that cross creeks) and turn right on the first graded road past the second bridge. the graded road appears to make a half-circle past a church with a cemetery (which should be on your right) before it comes back into CR 115. Dyal appears to be about halfway in between Callahan and Hilliard. Alternate directions, take US 1/301 out of Callahan, go past Sauls Road (which will be on your right), go over a bridge and turn left onto a graded road. that graded road will, apparently, dead end into the (half-circle) graded road mentioned above. when it does, turn left. there should be a church with a cemetery on your left. if you make it back, having followed these directions, please let me know. i will try to contain my amazement (not really) that you were able to find it. it might be a good idea to take a flare gun just in case. (just kidding...sort of.) hopefully someone on our list has some great directions complete with signs to follow, etc. happy trails, julie ----- Original Message ----- From: jangil1 To: [email protected] Sent: Wednesday, July 18, 2001 10:43 AM Subject: Re: Julie Re: [FLDUVAL] Dyal Cemetery Julie, Thanks for the directions to Jones Cemetery.
