Hi everyone, Was wondering if someone had a county map or some kind of list that shows Potter's Field cemetery in Jacksonville. I have an map of that shows it,but when I went to look for it,it wasn't there to be found.I could only find houses. I'm looking for my great grandparents.......Peter and Martha Keller they came here from Germany. My grandfather Joseph(Joe) Keller has died and I can't get any info on them. I was born in 1943 of march and even at the age of 8 years I never heard him mention them.So I'm thinking maybe they died before I was born or shortly after. I do know that they lived at the Beaches. I looked in the Warren smith cemetery and found nothing of any Keller's unless they have no headstone. Does anyone know who I can talk to about the Warren Smith and Old Mayport Cemeteries and maybe get a list of who is buried in them? Also while I'm on here does anyone know anything about the cemetery that was found at the Navy Base a couple of years ago.I heard no one was a loud in there. I can't walk very much,I have to go in a wheel chair and I don't do that very often for there is no one to push me around.Everyone is working or has no time for the dead. What are the names of the first oldest cemeteries from the beaches to Jacksonville. I think maybe I'm asking to many questions here sooo sorry for that. Most appreciative for any help.(Raised at the Beaches) Yours Friendly.....Jo (Jo-Ann) of Middleburg.
Don't recall the name of it but there is an old cemetery across the street (Beach Blvd) from the Warren Smith Cemetery. Perhaps someone on the list knows of it. It looks to be old. hi joann - where exactly, from the map that you have, is the "Potter's Field" cemetery that you tried to find? there were several cemeteries in the beaches area including Warren Smith, Lee Kirkland, Beaches Memorial Gardens and Old Mayport Cemetery (aka Pablo Cemetery). Evergreen Cemetery up on north Main Street is the largest cemetery in the area with folks from all over the county buried there. And there is also the Old City Cemetery in downtown Jax. i will send you a copy of a genealogy information helplist that i've compiled that has an email address for a lady who has an index of the burials at the Old City Cemetery and will do lookups. (i will send that list by private email since rootsweb does not allow attachments.) Old Mayport Cem has a listing on the Tombstone Transcription Project's web page. it can be accessed by the following url: ftp://ftp.rootsweb.com/pub/usgenweb/fl/duval/cemetery/mayport.txt but there are no Keller's listed on it. i do not have any contact information for the Warren Smith cem. which navy base was the cemetery on that you mentioned? we have three in this area. never too many questions. julie thames howell jax, fla ----- Original Message ----- From: [email protected] To: [email protected] Sent: Saturday, July 21, 2001 10:28 PM Subject: [FLDUVAL] CEMETERIES Hi everyone, Was wondering if someone had a county map or some kind of list that shows Potter's Field cemetery in Jacksonville.
