ok, my fuzzy little brain needs some clarification; 1. Edward Daniel Plummer's wife was Mahala F. Hartley. was it Mahala F. Hartley Plummer, or was it Mahala F. _________ and after Edward died she married one of the Hartleys? 2. are the people who found the grave marker assuming that edward is not buried in the vicinity of the marker? 3. has anyone been able to determine yet where Lawrence Plummer's farm was? 4. is the assumption that the place where the grave marker was found is not where edward is actually buried? it will be interesting to see who's names are on those grave markers that your friend took pictures of down by the buckman bridge. the "listing" of grave markers that is on the Tombstone Transcription page doesn't have any Plummers which is kinda odd since it is called the "Plummer Family Cemetery." perhaps, if for some reason mahala (and edward) aren't buried where they found the grave marker, she (or both of them) are buried in the plummer family cemetery. here's another thought. in lucy ames edwards' "Grave Markers of Duval County...", she mentions the "William Plummer Family Plot" as "the burial ground for the family of William and June Hartley Plummer. It is located on the south end of Plummers Cove, on the banks of the St. Johns River. It may be reached from Jacksonville by taking the Mandarin road." (this is the one that i believe is next to the buckman bridge.) she also mentions the "Edward D. Plummer Family Plot." the page, so i'm told, is titled "Plummer Family Plot", but she gives only the information on Edward D. Plummer's stone and says, "At that time it was on Lawrence Plummer's farm. It may be reached from Jacksonville by taking the Mandarin road." another thought; i always thought "the mandarin road" was San Jose Blvd (sr 13), and it probably was. of the roads leading off of san jose one used to be the road to the lawrence plummer farm. (my guess here would be haley rd or oak bluff ln.) julie ----- Original Message ----- From: [email protected] To: [email protected] Sent: Wednesday, June 13, 2001 7:41 AM Subject: [FLDUVAL] re: Hartley According to a recent discovery, the wife of Edward Daniel Plummer was Mahala F. Hartley. The CSA grave marker for Edward D Plummer has been found in the rear of a residence in Mandarin. The search is on for the "correct" final resting spot. Jon R. Ferguson
