I am new to this list and need some help. I am researching the Jameson name. JB Jameson is listed in the 1871 City Directory as the proprietor of the Rochester House in Brooklyn. I understand that the Brooklyn community has a long history. Is it possible that there are pictures of the Brooklyn area from the 1870"s? I'll be visiting Jacksonville in the fall. Where might I go to look at historical pictures of the Brooklyn area. I'd love to find a picture of the Rochester House. JB and his family were originally from Rochester, NY. Thanks in advance. Glenn Emory had a wonderful site at www.jacksonvillestory.com but I can not access it; he may have removed it for some reason. I will be going to the Library next week and will try to ck on it. At http://jpl.coj.net/library/main.html you have access to the Genealogy and Florida Collections of the Main Library. They are located on the 4th floor of the new building downtown. 303 N. Laura Street Jacksonville, FL 32202 (904) 630-2665 for a map see: http://jpl.coj.net/U_ENG_iFiles/hours.html#main I would suggest going there first. The librarians in both Collections are *very* knowledgeable. You might also want to ck the sites at http://www.oldarlington.org/links.php Also ck the Jacksonville Historical Society at http://www.jaxhistory.com/links.htm especially their Resources for Jacksonville History at http://www.jaxhistory.com/links.htm Hope this helps, Have a safe and productive trip!
