Please note that there is a new Webmaster for the Southern Genealogist's Exchange Society Website. Ed & Bev Murfin no longer work with that site. John Johnson is the new Webmaster, and he has made some changes - so go check it out. THE WAY TO GET TO HERITAGE QUEST ONLINE HAS CHANGED ---- YOU NEED NOT GO TO ANOTHER PAGE NOW. http://sgesjax.tripod.com. On the front page of the site you will see a list of other pages on the upper right, with little purple boxes to the left of each one. Go to Heritage Quest, place your cursor on its little box, double-click and it will take you immediately to the place where you click on the HQO button, which will take you to where you fill in your password. From there everything else is the same. Don't miss the fact that our SGES meetings are at a new date and time and place, FROM NOW ON: THIRD SATURDAYS, 1:30 P.M., WILLOWBRANCH LIBRARY, ON PARK STREET IN AVONDALE, joint meetings with the Jacksonville Genealogical Society. The two societies switch off every other month being in charge of the program during the rest of 2005 (expecting possible merger before the year's out). SGES is responsible for February 19th program. The SGES program for Feb. 19, will feature Mr. Daniel Moses speaking about his part African-American, part Cherokee, part aristocratic caucasian heritage and his genealogical research. I know this man personally and have witnessed some of his family-oriented presentations. He is special. Locally, he is the manager of the Dollar Tree Store in Mandarin, and lives on the West side near the municipal golf course off 103rd St., and is a member of my church, Good Shepherd United Methodist Church out west on Normandy Blvd. He is a recognized speaker and leader on the subject of sexual harrassment in the work place and has traveled nationally on this subject, even appearing before Presidents and other leaders. He has spoken widely on genealogy, particularly African-American research in America. He's even been a missionary to Mexico at one time. His family line leads from Florida through the Carolinas to New York state. With his pictures and his writings and other displays, t! his will be a most interesting program - one of the best you could attend anywhere during Black History Month. 'See you there.
