Did anyone in Duval County do this for you?
Hello Ann, Thanks!! for your reply. I have found a record of his death in the Florida Death Index. He is listed as Hugh W Marrow (sic). It shows that he died December 1959 in Duval County. This agrees with info from family. I have had no luck finding his obit and was hoping to get an exact date from a tombstone. The obit of his wife Rena Ollie (Hall) Morrow states that she was buried in Warren Smith cemetery. She died Jan 16 1968. A daughter, Bettie Ruth Hammond, died 13 Nov 1975. Her obit states that she is buried their also. There could be other family members. If there are no tombstones, will the cemetery furnish "family plot" records. tHANKS eRNEST hALL > > From: Ann Parkinson <pas47pap@yahoo.com> > Date: 2007/01/06 Sat PM 03:25:36 EST > To: flduval@rootsweb.com > Subject: Re: [FLDUVAL] Hugh W Morrow > > This is the link for the online transcription for > Warren Smith Cemetery, although it seems to be a > partial listing. I am searching for the death date and burial site of Lillie C Hall. Her husbands obit states that he was buried in Evergreen Cemetery. His name was Marion Franklin Hall. He died 14 Sept 1966. I would expect that she is buried next to him. Thanks Ernest Hall
I am searching for the death date and burial site of Hugh W Morrow. The obit of his wife Rena Ollie (Hall) Morrow states that she is buried at Warren Smith Cemetery. She died Jan 16 1968. I am assuming that he is buried next to her.
This is the link for the online transcription for Warren Smith Cemetery, although it seems to be a partial listing. The info says "There are about 5,000 grave sites with approximately 3,500 headstones." http://ftp.rootsweb.com/pub/usgenweb/fl/duval/cemetery/warren.txt I'll be glad to look at Ancestry from additional information if you can give me a little more info...approx birth year and place, where he may have died, etc. Ann Parkinson --- gadawg1989@bellsouth.net wrote: > > I am searching for the death date and burial site of > Hugh > W Morrow. > > The obit of his wife Rena Ollie (Hall) Morrow states > that > she is buried at Warren Smith Cemetery. This is because they are directly related or the person in question asking for the birth record- not like us asking for genealogical reasons- you have to be that person or the legal guardian as below a parent or the person - other than that you wait for about 75 years or longer before you can even touch another persons birth record- ----- Original Message ----- From: "Diane Chenault" <dchenault@cfl.rr.com> To: <flduval@rootsweb.com> Sent: Saturday, December 23, 2006 8:27 AM Subject: Re: [FLDUVAL] Adoptions >I don't think that's exactly right. I don't think that's exactly right. The birth parents or the adoptee can get the records once the adoptee is 21, by having the paperwork notorized. ----- Original Message ----- From: "dyj" <dyj@webtv.net> To: "Fred Hagan" <fhagan2@earthlink.net>; <flduval@rootsweb.com> Sent: Saturday, December 23, 2006 4:18 AM Subject: Re: [FLDUVAL] Adoptions > > In Florida, all adoptions are handled as "closed adoptions". In Florida, all adoptions are handled as "closed adoptions". No one is allowed to see them without a court order. Even with a court order only certain people are allowed to see them.
Thanks. It looks as if I need to wait several more years. With identify theft I cannot argue with the policy. Thanks for all who replied. I did find the link to the Florida vital records site and proceeded to request the birth certificate. It did not take long to be told by the system I needed to be the parent, child or guardian to get a copy of the certificate. Somewhere in my genealogy ramblings in other states I recall reading a person had to be dead for 100 years before the birth certificate was available to the general public. Something to do with identity theft. Now, what about a person that was adopted in Duval County as a child. Are the adoption records in the public domain or hidden away in some adoption agency? This information is not contained on the main page of the Florida Vital Statistics - Birth but in the form that is to be completed: In the case of a deceased registrant, upon receipt of the death certificate of the decedent, a certification of the birth certificate can be issued to the spouse, child, grandchild, sibling, if of legal age, or to the legal represenative of any of these persons as well as to the parent. Any person of legal age may be issued a certified copy of a birth record (except for those birth records under seal) for a birth event that occurred over 100 years ago. Leslie
A relative only I was told can get this and only if proof of death or you being a parent will you even have a shot at it- I was told a person has to have been dead for I think 75 years before you can get a copy of a birth record- unless you are this person or like it was said-legal guardian- I think- ----- Original Message ----- From: "Leslie Maddocks" <maddocks@ix.netcom.com> To: "Fred Hagan" <fhagan2@earthlink.net>; <flduval@rootsweb.com>; <FLDUVAL-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Thursday, December 21, 2006 11:21 AM Subject: [SPAM] Re: [FLDUVAL] Birth Records > If the person who provided the information for the death certificate knew, > the parent's names, mother by maiden name, will appear on the death > certificate. If the person who provided the information for the death certificate knew, the parent's names, mother by maiden name, will appear on the death certificate. Death certificates are only $5.00, so that's the place to start. Hidden somewhere in the web site for the Florida Vital Statistics page (couldn't find it right now since they don't want this information widely known and it doesn't appear in the regular portion of information regarding birth certificates) a birth certificate can be obtained for someone who is deceased. You will have to provide a copy of the death certificate. However, right now I can't remember if the certificate is limited to parent, legal guardian, or child of the deceased. If someone else doesn't provide this information. Maybe within a few days I can find the correct link. Can someone tell me the law concerning obtaining birth records? I am looking for a birth record dated 5 November 1928 (from individuals Social Securety Death record). I would like to know this person's parents names.

Sarah, has anyone in Duval County, FL offered to help you with this?
When you looked at the Florida Times Union newspaper obit link, did you happen to notice there there was a death "announcement' for a Mrs. Billie McCluskey and also "obits" for two men named Walton L. McCluskey and a Thomas Dean McCluskey? Just thought I would check as these people may be related to the ones you were wanting obits for.
They don't show up in my genealogy line, but probably because my main focus is on Mr. McCluskey's mother's line. She was a Horn. mindy ----- Original Message ----- From: "dyj" <dyj@webtv.net> To: <flduval@rootsweb.com> Sent: Thursday, November 30, 2006 10:02 AM Subject: Re: [FLDUVAL] McCluskey obit look-ups > > When you looked at the Florida Times Union newspaper obit link, did you > happen to notice there there was a death "announcement' for a Mrs. > Billie McCluskey and also "obits" for two men named Walton L.
