hi bo - i went to the manning cemetery (on manning cemetery road, just west of cecil field) the other day and there were several mosleys there. i'll be happy to give you the information i gathered on them if you wish. oh, by the way, i contacted the clay county property appraiser's office to tell them that we need a copy of the plat map for the legal description that you gave of the mosley property. i'll let everyone know as soon as i've heard back from them on that. julie [email protected] wrote: > Bo, > Do you prehaps know the names of the deceased that are interred there? Reply to: [email protected] Posted on http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Fl/Duval/924 Surname: Boberg Hello, great grandfather Casper Ludwig August Boberg was born in December, 1843 in Sutthausen, a suburb of Osnabruck in Germany. He married Maria Elizabeth MEISNER in April 1869, in Pittsburgh Casper died in Pittsburgh on Wednesday, April 28, 1915. His obituary asked the Jacksonville Florida papers to copy. Is possible to learn if he had Boberg family in the area at the time? It's reasonable to assume that there was a connection to Jacksonville. I appreciate any and all leads to our brick wall. Thank you so much. Nan
Barbara, I am constantly amazed at what information people have in their heads when they pass on.. seems thst folks forget to write things down... small insignificant things like where family folks are buried... this should serve as a reminder to make a family book - or bible and keep it up to date. But then again, if I had to follow my own advice.... I wouldn't have the time! Don't give up yet! Di > I found nothing in GenWeb sites or Tombstone. Bo, Do you prehaps know the names of the deceased that are interred there? I will definitely add it to the books, and will need someone to visit it and get the names off the headstones, unless you already have them. If there are no longer headstones present- is there any notes regarding the burials there? hi joyce - the old jacksonville beaches hospital is now part of the baptist hospital system. you would likely have to call the baptist hospital in jacksonville and see what records they still have. private adoption or not, the adoption papers would be filed with the clerk of the circuit court and would be kept at the courthouse indexed by the adoptive parents' last name. the adoption papers may or may not give the child's "real" last name (some do and some don't. my brother's, for example, had his birth-last name but mine didn't.) do you have any information on which attorney or person handled the adoption, and can you provide any additional specific information on the adopted child? the duval list is a very helpful one, but we would need a little more to go on. thanks, julie thames howell jax, fla [email protected] wrote: > Trying to help an adoptee born in 1967 at "Jacksonville Beach Hospital", > Florida. Trying to help an adoptee born in 1967 at "Jacksonville Beach Hospital", Florida. Hospital may exist under different name. May not exist at all and if not, how to find where records are kept today (pretty sure someone 'must' keep them). Oh yes, anyone know rules of ordering copy of his birth cert...thru county or state? Believe he was privately adopted when about a week or month old, not thru orphans home, etc. Does Florida have an INDEX TO BIRTHS (statewide) as does Texas, Calif? (much of it now online). Are there any good online reputable sites where an adoptee could register, in case his mother was looking for him? Thanks, Joyce, Burleson, Tx

Dianne, I found nothing in GenWeb sites or Tombstone. I was told she died while they were living in Jacksonville and that she was buried there. I have no idea where they lived in Jacksonville, I do know that my grandfather, Joseph Schramm worked for the Morris Movie Co. at the time. I was told that she died of encephalitis, but a cousin recently said she had a heart attack. I have not written for her death certificate as I had no exact date of death etc. There is a slight chance she died in 1917 instead of 1918. The family returned to Philadelphia after her death. HI, I saw your email concerning cemeteries and thought I would add one that was discovered while doing research on the Mosley family. The legal description of the land owned by William Brantley Mosley in Middleburg, Fla was SW 1/4 of SW 1/2 of section 32, Township 4 South Range. Documented dated Nov 10, 1883 wherein Sheriff Whitt is requesting appraisement of property of Brantley Mosley. O.A. Budington is one of the appraisers involved and in Clay county wherein a new development was going in right in the heart of Middleburg, on the edge of a creek, the developer discovered the small cemetery of this person and his family and had it fenced in to preserve it. -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] <[email protected]> To: [email protected] <[email protected]> Date: Tuesday, February 06, 2001 9:14 PM Subject: [FLDUVAL] 1918 Death & Burial >Dear Barbara, > >According to the book "Grave Markers of Duval County 1808-1916" ( by Lucy >Ames Edwards) there were 51 cemeteries in the "Jacksonville"area in 1916. >Some of them were no longer in use even at that time. Joann, Would you also check 1917 for that info? There is a slight chance that she may have died that year. Thanks. Barbara
Contact the huge city library in Jacksonville, FL then ask to be connected to the Genealogy dept. there. They are very much helpful. Joann and Barbara.... I just checked the Old City Cemetery listings and did not find a match....after 1901, only persons/families owning lots in Old City could still be buried there... -----Original Message----- From: jbragg1 [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Tuesday, February 06, 2001 8:22 PM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [FLDUVAL] 1918 Death & Burial Barbara I'll check the microfiche to see if there is a death certificate. Dear Barbara, According to the book "Grave Markers of Duval County 1808-1916" ( by Lucy Ames Edwards) there were 51 cemeteries in the "Jacksonville"area in 1916. Some of them were no longer in use even at that time. There are many more that surfaced and then were lost or forgotten since then. Also, these listings did not include Black or Colored People Cemeteries. Today we are currently searching for some 215 cemeteries that were reported to be "in the area". Back in 1918 the city/town limits and boundaries were not the same as they are today. I would be happy to help you. It would be useful if you have an idea of where in the area she lived. ANY other information would help. Have you located a death certificate from Vital Statistics yet? Perhaps there may be some clue on that. Jean, You might check the Jacksonville Genealogical Society Web page at http://users2.fdn.com/~jgs/ On the Queries page there is a query concerning an Elijah Greek. I also checked the "Old City Cemetery, Jacksonville, FL" compiled by Mary-Louise Howard for the Southern Genealogist's Exchange Society, Inc (1993). There were no "Greeks" in the index.
