The SS application of Fred Hering/Herring indicates that he applied for his SS# in Florida in 1938 with an address of "General Delivery", Coral Springs, FL. As he was from NY, I think that he most likely came to Florida to obtain a divorce. I am not familiar with divorce laws in Florida but have heard that in 1938, NY did not give divorces unless there was adultery involved so often people came to Florida. Was there a residency time limit involved and where would I find divorce records or any record of Fred living in Coral Springs at that time?
