My name is Toni Carrier. I am the founding director of the University of South Florida Africana Heritage Project. We are committed to rediscovering precious records documenting African American ancestry, and making that information available on a free, public access internet site. Our website, which will be hosted by Rootsweb (God Love ‘Em), is now under construction, and we are accepting submissions of deed and will records that list slaves by name. We hope to come online with at least two thousand names, and to encourage a groundswell among the genealogical community, to rediscover these precious documents.
