Go to www9.my florida.com. Follow the link to death certificates on the left side of the page. Death certificates usually list place of burial. Response time is quick. Also the Broward County Library does obit look-ups for a nominal fee. Go to http://dbnet.browardlibrary.org/~digital/ Click on "get help from a librarian...". Then click on "e-mail a question". Since the exact dates of death are known this might be the quicker approach provided obits were in the newspapers. Carol-Anne

    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/EZ.2ADI/1098 Message Board Post: I'm looking for Deliah Antoinette "Annette" Hickman, born 14 Aug 1845, Thomaston, Upson Co., GA; supposedly died 8 Sep 1825 in a hurricane in Hollywood. I found the 1926 hurrican which caused 27 deaths in Hollywood. Maybe the death date is a typo. Anyone know of a list of persons who died in that hurricane in Browarad Co. (or Hollywood)? Or, could someone check the extent cemeteries at that time for an Annette or Annette Hickman. I have found no record of a marriage, and do not know why she moved there. For that time frame it looks like the cemeteries would be Dania Memorial Park (established 1904) or possibly Dania Westlawn. Any help would be appareciated.

    1. Your 1600s American Ancestors
    2. First Families
    3. Hello Everyone: Those of you who are working on your lines back to your 1600s American Ancestors will find the1600s Ancestors Data Base to be of great help. My recent posting updates to the Data Base has taken it to over 26,500 Ancestors who have descendants living today. I have also added several National Societies who have proven many of these Ancestors. Also at this time a few new respected Reference works that contain thousands of sources including some of the early colonists who have Royal Blood lines. All the entries are coded to indicate to which reference work or which National Society has at least one of their proven lines. Several of the National Societies have over 20 different lines from a single Ancestor. When you enter the 1600s Ancestor Data Base be sure to look at the top of each data page for the link that takes you to the "Data Base Information Page" Here you will find the codes and references listed and how to use them. This is must reading to understand the Data Base. We are constantly updating the Data Base with additional Ancestors added as time permits. You will find the 1600s Ancestor Data Base at: http://www.firstfamilies.org/db/ Everyone has FREE access to all our web site and the reports contained there. Enjoy and Happy Hunting Ryan Jackson Data Base Manager America's First Families

    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/EZ.2ADI/1092.1 Message Board Post: I have checked on Ancestry.com and come up with the following information (or lack thereof). * Edna C. Duncan 20 Aug 1915-20 June 1972 died Broward SSN 266-12-0319 (If her middle name is Catherine rather than Katherine this could be her) * Jimmy Duncan - no matches * James H. Duncan 22 Sept 1913-8 Sept 1974 Broward Co. - this from FL Death Index * James Duncan 22 Jul 1913 (note different month)-Sept 1974 Ft. Lauderdale, Broward SSN 264-07-2484 * Ruby Garvin - no information - their death records don't go back that far although they are available through several libraries, etc. for 1930s * Zollie D. Garvin - WWII Inducted FL, PFC, died 26 Nov 1942, buried (can't tell from site but think in Philippines) * Zollie Garvin 2419 Curtis Rd., Adrian, MI (in 2000 phone book) You can order a copy of the death certificates I have listed for $5.00 from: Vital Statistics, PO Box 210, Jacksonville FL 32231-0042. List as much information as you can from the above and what you already know. This should give their parents names and who signed the death certificate as informant, as well as where they are buried, and some additional information. Part of the certificate will be blanked out - this is the part that gives cause of death. This is not available for 50 years. If the daughter signed as the informant you should be able to tell if she was married at the time and her name then. I haven't seen anyone respond to requests for obituaries for Broward Co. even though many requests are posted.

I am also looking for information on Zollie Garvin and Ruby Hodges Garvin. Ruby drowned in a lake in Florida in the 1930s. She had a son, but I don't know his name. Ruby and Edna Katherine were sisters, and half-sisters to my mother. No one in my family can tell me anything about them except that they lived in Ft. Lauderdale and the approximate decade in which they died. Any information would be appreciated, even pointers on where I might obtain information. I do not live in Florida and have limited access to Florida genealogy information.
