Posted on: Bradford County Queries Reply Here: http://genconnect.rootsweb.com/genbbs.cgi/USA/Fl/Bradford/214 Surname: ------------------------- A friend saw your message on William W. Tumblin of Bradford Co & sent it to me. I have replied twice to your e-mail on the Tumblin family but neither would go through. Apparently I had the wrong address. A William W. H. Tumblin, age 3, was living with his mother in the household of James & Jane Tumblin in 1850 in Columbia Co. His mother was listed as Seletta, age 22 & siblings were Martha, age 6 & Mary, age 3. I have no other info on this William. The 1850 Federal Census of Lumpkin Co., GA lists the family of William & Laura Tumblin. One son, William, was born in 1841. Could either of these be the William you are researching? I hope you get this message.

Posted on: Bradford County Queries Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Fl/Bradford/210 Surname: Whittemore, Brown ------------------------- Dear Bradford County researchers for Whittemore & Brown: I have not figured this out yet, but somehow my Whittemore line is connected to those of Bradford County, Florida through a "Charlotte" Whittemore possibly. My Whittemore line connection is through my g-grandmother, Jane Elizabeth Whittemore, b. 1855 (probably Nassau County) - d. 1933 in Jacksonville, Duval County, FL and she married Hugh Henry Brown, b. 1855 City of New York and d. 1913 at Crandall, Nassau County, FL. One of their children, Annie Jane Brown was born abt. 1882 - 1884 at Burrin (sp) Bradford County, Florida and I'm trying to find my Hugh Henry Brown family on census in Bradford County, but haven't so far. Jane Elizabeth Whittemore's father was Martin A. Whittemore, b. abt. 1809 in Georgia, according to census reports (I've never been able to find his family in Georgia) but I do know he died in Nassau County, FL and is buried in the Verdie cemetery. Martin was married to an Ann Russell (I've never figured out who her dad was, she is suppose to be from Nassau County, FL) and Ann's mother was supposed to be of Minorcan descent. I did find a reference to some Whittemore's in the land lottery index for Georgia, referencing "4 orphans of" Parley Whittemore 1820 and 1830, but have not been able to find out how to get more information on this family. It is said that Martin Whittemore raised 3 or 4 orphans in the Nassau County area, and I think the orphans were from Georgia. If any of this sounds like Whittemore or Brown that you are researching please contact me. Thanks.
