My grgrandmother Elizabeth Rebecca Virginia CONE Bennett had a brother named James married to Eliza. I think I have found them on the Bradford County 1880 census. Elizabeth and family were in Volusia County in 1880 and since the two counties are fairly close it's a possibility that James Cone in Bradford is her brother. I need more information on the Cones. I have no parents or siblings listed for James and Elizabeth and I woulfd like to get over that brick wall. Can anyone help me. I appreciate any and all information. Doris Albritton Smith
Posted on: Bradford County Queries Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Fl/Bradford/10344 Surname: Guthrie, Guthery ------------------------- My great grandfather was born in Bradford County. His name was Lindsey George Guthrie. I believe he would have been born around the end of the 1800's or early 1900's. I also believe his parents may have been Abraham Moses Guthrie and Emma Sapp who happened to be married in Bradford County. I have no proof at all. All I know about Lindsey's father is that he went by the name Mose. They say his wife's name was Emma. He ended up in Hillsborough County were he died. If anyone has ANY information that might help me, please respond.

Posted on: Bradford County Queries Reply Here: http://genconnect.rootsweb.com/gc/USA/Fl/Bradford/10339 Surname: Mullis ------------------------- I knew a couple that once resided in Starke, FL back in the 1960's. Their name is J.W. & Louise Mullis. They had two daughters and one son, Billy, who should be in his 40's today. Billy had red hair. They also lived next to the large lake located in Starke. I've lost contact with them and would like to find them. Since we've been back to visit them, they've moved and no one seems to know where they had gone. Another clue is that they are originally from Dodge County, GA. Thanks for any help!!! Sheila
Posted on: Bradford County Queries Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Fl/Bradford/10338 Surname: Rowell ------------------------- Earl, I did hear from Travis D. Alvarez who was born in Starke, Bradford County, FL. That Rowell lake was named for Valentine Rowell Prevatt who died in Fort Delaware N.J. as a Union POW. census in Alachua Co. Fl 1850 pg 8a, 1860 census pg 1. He was captured by Union Troops near Starke in Feb. 1864 and later died from his wounds. He stated that some said that Valentine was never sent to Fort Delaware and in fact died at St. Augustine, FL. He voted in the first statewide election, Columbia Co., precinct 1 May 26, 1845. This was more information than I ever expected, my thanks to Travis...Linda Rowell Brown
Posted on: Bradford County Queries Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Fl/Bradford/10336 Surname: Wynn, Kite, Smith, Brown, Driggers, Warren ------------------------- Linda, I fished the lake with my dad way back in the late 20' and early 30', I seem to recall that the lake was named in the memory of a poplar pocitical figure. However, this may just be a vague childhood memory. There are families living in the Sampson City area that might be able to help you with this problem. Surnames from the Sampson City area to contact would be: Wynn, Smith, Kite, Brown, Warren and Driggers. The Stump sisters in Starke would also be another source of information. They own the Stump's store at the corner of hwy 100 and U S 301 in Starke. They should be listed in the phone book for Starke. Please let me know how the lake got its name, when you find the information. Earl L. Varnes P O Box 433 White Springs, FL 32096
