I have the following note in a GEDCOM about my GGGrandfather. I am wondering if there is any County history or other documentation that can give me any more information on him (or family) and to verify his being a County Commissioner. Family tradition is that he was one of the first State Legislators as well. "Samuel B. COLDING and family came to Florida about 1843. Samuel was a County Commissioner when Newsnanville, an early settlement near present day Gainesville, was the county seat of Alachua. 1850 census lists Samuel as 50 years of age with personal property value of $1,000." Thanks :-) L.M. 'Stoney' Dyson [email protected] [email protected] 212 Marine Drive Pensacola, FL 32507-2328
