Downing -- Thank you so much for your prompt response. I believe you have put me on the right track. Ira Belton Huggins who married Mary Elizabeth (called Eliza) Downing had a brother, George Samuel Martin Huggins, who was born SC (1836) and served the Confederacy from Alachua County, Florida as Martin Huggins. He married Lydia Downing b.10 Jul 1845 Montgomery, Alabama, d. 24 Jan 1916 Williston, Levy, Florida. Martin and Lydia named two of their children -- Hester Eliza (Martin's mother was Hester, and it appears that Lydia's mother was Eliza; and George William (Martin's father was George and Lydia's father was William? I don't know how Lydia and Eliza are connected, but feel sure they are. My records on Ira Belton and wife, Eliza, are less complete than those of his brother. Any ideas at this point will be greatly appreciated. Do you have record of William and Eliza Downing's children? Thanks again for the input. Sara
