This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Obituary Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/BZ.2ADI/644 Message Board Post: First you should check the message boards for the county where the person lived. Many of the boards have volunteers that will do a lookup for the cost of postage and printing. Post a message and maybe one will respond. Most libraries have back issues of newspapers for their local area, and some will do a lookup for a dollar or two and the cost of postage and printing, if you have the exact date of death. You may want to check and see if the library has a website and/or write them a letter to see if they will do a lookup. If all else fails, I will do lookups. I'm fortunate enough to have access to microfilm copies of newspapers from all over the state. I'll need the exact date of death, and the county where the person died. If all you have is the month and year from the social security death index, you should send off to the state for a death certificate, which will give the exact date of death, and location. You get one buy sending $5.00 to: State Office of Vital Statistics, Attn: Customer Service, Post Office Box 210, Jacksonville, FL. 32231-0042 If you would like me to do an obituary lookup, please e-mail directly for more information.
