To the best of my knowledge the river begins in a lake about 9 miles west of present day Archer, flows south between Otter Creek and Gulf Hammock & enters the Gulf east of Cedar Key in Waccasassa Bay. There was a road that ran to Cedar Key from Newnansville area. At certain times of the year the river can be run by canoe which I have done and there is a yearly race down the river.
