He was a Methodist preacher. Older family members say he was shot during an argument. The Florida United Methodist Church archives contain only the following statement. Does anyone have a newspaper from Alachua county from April of 1904? "Rev. Albert Sydney James Allen, born in the great State of Alabama,came to Florida 28 years ago and entered the ministry 14 years ago. He served some of our leading appointments in this conference. As a school teacher he was an acceptable one in the county. His untimely death and the way it occurred was lamented by all. Died at San Pulaski, FL, April 2, 1904." He was an African-American married Diana Limerick/Limbric/Lembric (not sure of spelling) Thanks, AA
