He was a Methodist preacher. Older family members say he was shot during an argument. The Florida United Methodist Church archives contain only the following statement. Does anyone have a newspaper from Alachua county from April of 1904? "Rev. Albert Sydney James Allen, born in the great State of Alabama,came to Florida 28 years ago and entered the ministry 14 years ago. He served some of our leading appointments in this conference. As a school teacher he was an acceptable one in the county. His untimely death and the way it occurred was lamented by all. Died at San Pulaski, FL, April 2, 1904." Think our father's name was Sam and mother's name was Gail and our birth names were Tammy and Vicki we think (names have since been changed). Know paternal grandmother lived in Wayne co. Goldsboro where father first initially signed consents for adoption then came and got us back 12 days later and took us back to Fla. Heard a story of a half-sister/brother who died under suspicious conditions in Daytona Fla. Heard child died about 10 months of age and was beaten to death by our biological mother and her boyfriend (not our father). This occurred in 1969. In 1974 we went to a friend of our paternal grandmother who lived in WILMINGTON NEW HANOVER CO. where consents were signed for the second time to give us up for adoption. When our father came to get us the second time after he signed consents for adoption, it was to late to get us back. Our biological mother was charged with neglect and sent to jail for six months for this child's death in 1! 969 and then went to a psychiatric institute out of state for six months. We have been searching for a very long time. If this sounds familier to anyone please help.

I am looking for my birth parents. Was told my father's name was Sam and my mother's name was Gail. He was born in 1943 and she was born in 1944. I was born in Alachua county general hospital and so was my sister. I was born July 13,1970 and my sister was born July 9,1969. We believe our birth names were Tammy and Vicki. My mother was pregnant with a child in 1968 with her boyfriend and then married my father. The child was born in the marriage. My parents were born in 1968 and divorced in 1973. The story goes that my biological mother and her boyfriend beat this child to death when the child was 10 months old in or about September 1969. The child died in Daytona Florida. We have searched and searched. Does this case sound familier to anyone???

Hello, This might sound a little strange but..I've been working on connecting my family SNOWDEN to these Snowden's in FL. My grandfather according to census records was born in FL. But I do not have any information on his father or mother. I have tried to connect going backwards from James Snowden who is in Alachua Co. FL by 1830 and who was killed by Indians 9 Apr 1838. He Married Francis Townsend 4 Nov 1824 in Wayne Co., GA. They had eight children: 1. Henry b. 12 Sept 1825 married Charity Adams they had at least 5 children according to Alachua Co., FL 1850 Fed Census: James M., Mary M., Abner, Susan, and Sinai 2. Sarah 'Sally' b. 12 Oct 1827 d. abt 1846-8 married Roman Alvarez they had one child Mary Elizabeth before Sarah died 3. Jane b. 31 Jan 1829 married John Dyess/Dyas? 7 Dec 1848 in Alachua Co. (believe him to also be known as Christopher Dyess) 4. Abraham died as infant 5. Mary 'Polly' b. 8 May 1831 married John A. Jackson McKinney they had four children: Charles M., John, Susan, and Henry 6. James b. 22 Oct 1833 Married Celia Stokes b. 1829 in GA they had at least four children: Georgiann, Frances, James, and Henry 7. Frances died as an infant 8. Edward b. 19 Dec 1837 married Anne Dorinda Benton they had at least five children: Lucy, Jane, James, Edward, and Henry Florence. Well, if you could supply any information it would be nice. I've been trying to connect the first James I've listed here to Walter Aaron Snowden who fought in the Rev. War. He did have a son named James by one of his wives. Well, enough for now.
