I see that the chestnuts brought their slaves with them around 1855. I don't think that camden and chester were to far from each other. I am wondering if you might have any names of the slaves that belonged to the chestnuts. my great great grandfather and his brothers were ned and dudley and william. if you don't know , do you know where i could check that information out at. any help would be appreciated. by the way my family brought 681 acres of land in 1867 for 35,000lbs of sea island cotton. thank you in advance. antoinette russell

If you have problems paring down your file, send me the entire file and tell me who you would like for me to include. (Something like "William Hodge and 4 generations of descendants") http://user.gru.net/jpowelljr/alachua.wbg/index.html (Netscape 6 seems to have problems with this one) or http://user.gru.net/jpowelljr/alachua.wbg/wgasurs.html Thanks, Jim

I thought I would list this again to see if maybe someone might have some clues. --- This is from the Alachua County, FL web site. http://clkres17.co.alachua.fl.us/Archive/default.cfm --- J. W. Exley is final guardian to the children of James & Nancy(Williams) Pendarvis. Nancy is daughter of Lew/Lewellen/or Lewelling? Williams. But on the first & second page of the file listed below, are 2 Pendarvis children listed that are in Walter & Pellie(Pendarvis) Button's family. But, these 2 children are list as "visiting Pendarvis". ---Does anyone have any info on these 2 children? I believe the record said they were from Greenville, SC. ---Go to:J.W.
