    3. In one of the three WFGS blue vital records volumes there is a list of old communities or locations found in birth and death records. I don't have the books in my personal library, but someone on the list may and could check. Perhaps Butcher Pen Pond is on the list. Judy Jolly p.s. PPL Genealogy Department now has 10 volunteers from our WFGS. What a great service they provide. They shelve books, clip papers, file, copy, and patiently and skillfully help patrons of all research levels. These volunteers represent our society and our library well. What a great group! Thanks to everyone!

    3. A little more info. Someone in NY had sent me the URL for pages of the Pensacola Journal in the early 1900's. I was searching the name "Borras," and found this entry for May 14, 1905. "Landrum and West End teams to play. The Landrum and West End teams will play a game of baseball this morning on the diamond near Butcher Pen pond. The Landrums had arranged a game with the East Hill team, but this had been called off, and the West Ends will play. The following will compose the line-up of the Landrums and each member is requested to be present in Seville square at 8:30 o'clock: Borras, catcher; Miller, pitcher; Griffin, first base; Bergen, second base; Bonifay, short stop; Klumker, third base; Bogart, left field; Pine, center field; Mertins, right field." Thus, I was curious as to the location of Butcher Pen Pond. Since there was no bridge across the bay at that time, it seems unlikely to me that they would have gone to the Gulf Breeze area or where some of you have said Butcher Pen Cove might be. There is another article on April 18, 1905 about the same "teams played an interesting game Sunday afternoon on the diamond at Big Ditch...." So, now, where was Big Ditch???? Cynthia
