    3. Hi WFGS Friends, We'll shut down the computer in a few minutes and pack it to put on the moving van tomorrow morning. I wanted to say thanks before we do. WFGS has meant so much to me during our years in Pensacola, and I'll always be grateful for what I've learned. It has truly enriched my life. On the first morning I walked into the meeting room many years ago, I knew nothing about genealogy and was a bit nervous about how I'd be received. Would there be a place for a total novice? Would my questions seem too simple? My fears quickly vanished as I was welcomed by so many warm and friendly people, and they were smart as well as warm and friendly! My questions were answered with patience and respect. I was about to step into a new world - and a wonderful one at that! The early morning Gen Ed classes were a tremendous help. My thanks to Liz, Carolyn, Lee, and the others who gave of their time and knowledge. To learn about census, land, probate, cemeteries, and countless other basics armed me with needed skills. All the programs, conferences and workshops were educational - always top quality. My thanks to the countless members who brought it all to pass. You probably never knew how very important and valuable your work was (and still is!). To be asked to help with projects made me feel a part of the organization. I loved working with the Fisher-Pou and census transcription projects. I had never done that kind of work, but those in charge were patient and encouraging. Thanks to Roy, and to Jerry and Jenny. Thanks especially when I gave up proofing the 1885. I was embarrassed that I found it too difficult to proof, but Jenny's sweet smile said she understood and not to worry. To be asked to volunteer at PPL was the beginning of a true love affair. As I tried to help others find information, I found information myself. I learned so much and was thrilled at the end of each day to realize all the new facts stored in my head and heart. Thanks to Roy for patiently explaining the work and for telling me I'd love doing it. He was right. I've loved it as I've loved few other things in my life. I truly believe WFGS is one of the finest societies in the U.S. I know you'll continue to blaze new trails and continue to enjoy much success along the way. How I'd love to be here for the Family History Day in April. They'll stand in line, I know, and they won't be disappointed! Again, thanks to all for taking the time to help me. I'll always be grateful that you did. Your friend, Judy Jolly
