    1. [FL-WFGS] News of WFGS
    2. May 19, 2008 I want to bring you up-to-date about a few things: If you read today's paper, you'll see IN PRINT that the old Tryon Library will be a genealogy library-- and, of course, we knew that was going to happen but seeing progress being made on the new one makes it become more of a reality! Having said that, I want to remind you of your commitment to Mr. Fischer of PPL and WFGS that as a Society, we would be willing to help make the genealogy library set up and functioning. This probably will mean a lot of volunteers to help much as the few volunteers are doing now. We are having a meeting of volunteers, May 30, 10:30 a.m. in the genealogy dept. at PPL to make plans for ways we can help right now. WE NEED MORE VOLUNTEERS!! If you can devote a half day a week, every other week, or one day a month, you need to be at this meeting. If you have questions regarding volunteering please call me at 982-8247 or 780-3362. Now is the time to go through all your genealogy books, etc. to see what you might consider donating to the library. The present area is becoming overloaded right now but a list of your donations can be kept so the library(or someone else) won't purchase the same thing--give it some thought. Other news: JANET MYERS has filled the position on the Board to replace Dorothy Jacobs. Don't forget that there will be a "Help" desk every meeting beginning at 9:00 a.m. for those who might have a special problem that others can help solve. This will be at the back table and several people will be able to help others. The Board has agreed to let people from other genealogy societies bring the published works of that Society for sale at our meetings. They will "man" their own sales tables and any funds collected will not go through our Society. GOOD NEWS! Speakers for the October conference have been contacted and agreed to come. More about this later! Don't forget to read your newsletter. Hope to see MANY of you at our next meeting, June 6. Priscilla Nobles, President

    3. Priscilla, I was at the PPL today, and I brought you the copy of the book you asked me to buy at Santa Rosa a couple of months ago---about the Creek lady's seminar. I put it in the Supplies drawer with your name on it---for you!! So you can get it on Wednesday!! You're Welcome!
