Our originally scheduled speaker, Pete Baucum, has taken ill and will not be able to make her presentation on land records this Saturday. We sincerely hope she is feeling better soon and makes a speedy and complete recovery. The replacement speaker will be Jerry Merritt. He will give a presentation on the reasons we often end up with brick walls in our research and will show ways to get around the seemingly intractable problems that are causing us fits. Yes, you read that correctly. There are ways to use the data you already have that seems to be leading nowhere to actually continue making headway in finding the next generation back. There will be a number of totally new research techniques and tricks explained with examples. Jerry pretty much guarantees there will be at least several tricks that none of you have seen before. So, if you have a brick wall in your research (and if you don't, you will at some point in the future) don't miss this presentation Saturday. The information to be presented is not available anywhere else except at your next WFGS meeting. Another great reason to be a WFGS member. And there are donuts, too. Dang! Oh, how I wish I did not live 5 hours away! I'd really like to be in on this because I have two "brick walls" that are DOOZIES -- and have been for decades! -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Jerry Merritt Sent: Wednesday, July 30, 2008 1:25 PM To: WFGS Subject: [FL-WFGS] WFGS Meeting Update Our originally scheduled speaker, Pete Baucum, has taken ill and will not be able to make her presentation on land records this Saturday. Jerry Merritt - Thank you for your well presented, understandable presentation on "brick walls."
