    3. We are proud to announce that the Escambia County FLGenWeb, Inc. web site sponsored by the West FL Genealogical Society (WFGS) has been updated with an index of the 2009 obituaries listed in the Pensacola News Journal. The contributors are Carolyn and Curtis Reedy, who also maintain the hard copies of the obituaries. An e-mail request and a hearty thank you is all these hard-working volunteers require to provide you with a copy of an obituary by return e-mail. As we speak, they are working on the 2010 obituaries. You may think that current obituaries are of no use to researchers, but the requests for current obituaries has been quite brisk, because, as you know, we start our research with current family and work backwards. I had to think about that for a while before I truly recognized the absolute beauty of having easy access to current and relatively current obituaries! Carolyn and Curtis make a terrific team and their dedication to this effort is phenomenal! Thank you again, Carolyn and Curtis Reedy!!! Visiting the Escambia County FLGenWeb, Inc. web site index at http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~flwfgs/escambiacountyfl/index.htm should prove to be an exciting venture in researching your ancestors of the area. To find the brand new 2009 index of obituaries, page down the index to "Vitals, and then Obituaries." Or, simply use the FreeFind search function if you wish. FreeFind search engines will have already indexed the names contained in the new 2009 file by the time you receive this e-mail, plus every single name in the 460 plus pages of this web site. Please consider submitting your research of the West Florida area so that others may benefit from it.
