It was wonderful. I am stumped over troop movements during the War of 1812, so I thought I would collectively ask everyone for advice. I know of several ancestors who served in the North Carolina Militia, 3rd Regiment, during the War of 1812. How can I research where the various companies may have travelled, short of paying the $85 dollars each for NARA's veteran records? I suspect it was the War of 1812 that brought my ancestors to the Tensaw Region. I know they were together in Moore's Company, 3rd Regiment, North Carolina Militia. I just can't find troop movement information. Am I missing something obvious? Thanks for any advice. The best book on War of 1812 genealogical sources is George Schweitzer's War of 1812 book (he was a speaker for WFGS some years ago). The UWF library collections have in excess of 100 books on the War of 1812, and I would suggest looking through those. Schweitzer's book is on the 4th floor, call number E 354 S34 1983. I'm sure there are copies at WFGS Library.
