Cyndi’s List recently launched a brand new website; have you been there to check it out? All we knew and loved and were used to is still there for us; it’s just behind a new “store front.” Cyndi envisions her list to be “a free jumping-off point for your daily genealogical research.” Cyndi’s site makes a great home page with its rolling genealogy news feed and a link to The Cyndi’s List Daily, a daily dose of genealogy news. Hi Everyone! Another one of our famous volunteers, Jo Ann McKay, discovered a large listing of burials in the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery on Find A Grave at http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=cr&CRid=2165933&CScn=Pleasant+Grove&CScntry=4&CSst=11&CScnty=332&. We really appreciate Jo Ann's sharp eyes, too! I invite anyone who finds valuable links to let me know at griffle@cox.net. Anything that can make our web site better and make researching better for Escambia County researchers. Thanks again, Jo Ann! Bonnie
Hi! One of our famous volunteers, Carolyn Reedy, has discovered a 4,000+ listing of names of burials in Pensacola Memorial Gardens! See the updated list of cemeteries at http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~flwfgs/escambiacountyfl/cemeteries/cemproj.htm and page down to "Pensacola Memorial Gardens." There you will find a link to the Find A Grave listing. Thanks for the sharp eyes, Carolyn! I invite all of our readers to report any such valuable links we can add to the Escambia County FLGenWeb site. Send to me at griffle@cox.net. Thanks ahead of time! Bonnie
Since so many of the volunteers are from WFGS, Carolyn & Curtis Reedy included, it is appropriate for me to forward this e-mail to the List so that everyone can see it. It is very apparent how much researchers far and wide use and value the information placed on the Escambia Co. FLGenWeb by volunteers, most of whom are associated with WFGS. A big "hats off" to all those who have volunteered and shared in this very important way! This is just one of many sterling compliments we receive. Each and every person who has submitted information for the web site should feel gratified to know you have helped someone. I must tell you that I am absolutely amazed at the sheer volume of work that you and others in your genealogical society have done and posted. Carolyn ----- Original Message ----- From: Rebecca Hill To: Carolyn Reedy Sent: Wednesday, July 27, 2011 1:10 AM Subject: Obituary for Thomas H. Tyndall, 1998 Carolyn Reedy, I have just seen where you submitted in 1999 to the Escambia County Florida USGenWeb Archives a file entitled "1998 Pensacola News Journal Obituary Index Surnames N-Z." One of the entries in this file was Thomas H. "Pete" Tyndall, age 79, of Pensacola, FL. He died June 16, 1998. Also, it was noted, "For more information on the obituary, please contact Carolyn Reedy. If you are still receiving mail at either of the addresses I have seen for you and if you get my message, I would appreciate your help in possibly obtaining a copy of Mr. Tyndall's full obituary. I know that he was born in North Carolina in 1918. Both of his parents died when he was relatively young, and he apparently settled in Florida after serving in the Navy during World War II, though he did make trips back to North Carolina from time to time to visit relatives in the community where I live. I am trying to trace Mr. Tyndall and his siblings for some of their cousins who are my neighbors. Thanks for any help with my project that you can provide. Rebecca Hill Kinston, NC 28501
