HALL? Sigh. I have despaired of finding connections to my gr-grandmother, Mary Jane Hall Allen. She was born in Kentucky, and died there in 1924. Her father was James E (lmer?) Hall, born ca. 1812 in TN. Her mother was Judah Ann (?). ----- Original Message ----- From: <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Monday, September 10, 2007 8:01 PM Subject: [FL-WFGS] Butcher Pen Pond > Perhaps the site has become more 'historical' than 'genealogical' and does > not represent what it was initially set up for. Thanks Judy, The Cherokee connection connection makes sense and ties into some family lore that may pertain to Elisha Williams. Elisha's wife may also be Indian with a name like Quinhula. Jerry, Whatever you sent at 7:49 and 7:56 had no message. cd
Hi Jerry, A story about Pleasant Harrison Williams is on page 498 of Escambia II. It includes photos of Pleasant and his wife Christian Price Williams, born about 1822, a full-blooded Cherokee. They met in Marietta, Georgia. The story does not include anything about his ancestry, except that he arrived in either South Carolina or Georgia from Wales. It does not include his siblings. The story was submitted by Judy Grimes Wansley. Judy Jolly
Last two posts had no data. This is a retry using a different application. Does anyone out there know whether the two Williams shown below - Pleasant and Elisha - are related. I am unable to find Elisha in any census before or after 1860 (but I don't have access to 1830-1850 on line.) I can trace Pleasant from 1850 until his death. I suspect they are brothers since they are so close in age and listed with only one family between them in the census of 1860. Any help appreciated from you Williams researchers - or anyone else, for that matter. Any info on the Nathan Parish living with Elisha would be a help as well. He also disappears after 1860. 9/11/07 Thanks, Lee, for your calm and reassuring response to the current input about matters that are not directly related to history and genealogy on our WFGS email connection. Though considering today's date, I especially appreciated the Red Skelton Pledge of Allegiance monologue affirming our loyalty to the country of our nationality. Thank you anyway, Suzanne. I agree with Cynthia on all points! No one should leave this important and helpful list. Let's just all try to stay on topic: genealogy and local history. > [Original Message] > From: Cynthia Dean <[email protected]> > To: <[email protected]> > Date: 9/11/2007 10:37:22 AM > Subject: Re: [FL-WFGS] Butcher Pen Pond > > Agreed this list should not be used for political and religious > purposes, jokes, etc. Folks should have separate email lists for those > items. > > One cannot separate genealogy from the history of an area. I see by today's paper that James Hazuga age 64 passed away. Here is a message I had from him last week. ____________________________________________ Hi Jim, love the email message. We had a great birthday party at WFGS yesterday. Things are going good, drop in and join us. ----- Original Message ----- From: Jim Hazuga Sr To: undisclosed-recipients: Sent: Sunday, September 02, 2007 4:18 PM Subject: Bumper Stickers for Seniors] i'd to join you...............but i'm homebound with COPD AND POLIO best wishes to you and yours jim h.
Agreed this list should not be used for political and religious purposes, jokes, etc. Folks should have separate email lists for those items. One cannot separate genealogy from the history of an area. Our ancestors did not live, work and play in a vacuum. Everything happened some place. I hope Jackie and Suzanne will continue to contribute to the list. They are both natives with long family histories in Escambia Co. have extensive knowledge of the people and the area and have much to offer us. Cynthia
