    3. It does indeed look like the old site! There is a new logo and my introductory paragraph is different. There are also some new files on it. If you click on the old web site address, there is a program that automatically switches you to the new one, because the files are not on the old server anymore. The new host is flgenhistonline instead of rootsweb. The USGenWeb has always had its own server and now the FLGenWeb does, too. Whichever site you click should definitely come up though. Maybe refreshing your screen would help. Please do let me know and thanks! 3. The new "RootsWeb Review" format. For those of you who don't know, the "RootsWeb Review" is a weekly newsletter that's been going out to RootsWeb.com users for ten years. Julia M. Case and Myra Vanderpool Gormley edited the publication for the first three years, after which Myra took over as sole editor. Yesterday, 23 January 2008, the "RootsWeb Review" went out as an HTML newsletter for the first time (it was a text-only newsletter prior to that). This was thanks to help from some great people at The Generations Network, Inc. Unfortunately, only the text versions are currently archived on RootsWeb.com so there is no easy way for you to see the new newsletter format unless you subscribe to the newsletter. If you want to subscribe, go to http://newsletters.rootsweb.com/ Best, Jana Lloyd Editor of the RootsWeb Review P.S. 3. Oops! I did the same as Ginny. My apologies to the list. However, my gratitude is extended to one and all for the many years you have each blessed my life. My relationship with WFGS and my work at PPL have been treasures I will remember always. God bless. Judy Jolly p.s. David, I will get the balance of the expense check to you. Bruce, I will leave the remaining cartridges and the redeemed coupons at PPL for you (or whomever) this Friday.

    3. Dear Ginny, I know you're exhausted from this battle. But, even though weary, that pretty head on your shoulders is still smart and wise. You're right to take more time to build your energy back and to prevent any kind of secondary infection or relapse due to germs from other folks or from this weather. Whenever you feel well and strong enough to return to the genealogy department will be the right time - and not sooner. You're worth waiting for, so don't you worry a minute. I thought more about the November and December 2006 obituaries. I know they're not duplicates. That's when my mom passed away and I just stopped processing the collection during that time. I had pasted all the others during a trip to Fort Myers in mid-November. Mom passed away the day after Thanksgiving. So we need those for the 2006 collection. We sold our home yesterday and are tentatively planning a late February or early March move. Although I have such mixed feelings about leaving here, I know it is the right thing and it is the right time. Obviously, my PPL days are numbered because of packing and other related responsibilities. I hope to be there this Friday and the next (February 1), but that's probably all. I will always be grateful for the years I was permitted to be involved with the library. I'll take good memories with me. Take good care of yourself, and do as the doctor told your son-in-law. Lots of rest and fluids and stay warm. Love, Judy

    1. [FL-WFGS] Escambia County FL GenWeb site has changed

    3. Effective today, the Escambia County FL USGenWeb site has changed from: http://www.rootsweb.com/~flescamb/index.htm to http://www.flgenhistonline.com/counties/escambia/escindex.htm (please bookmark!) Part of the notice on the old home page gives some of the details. The main one is that under the informed recommendation of the FLGenWeb leadership, the FLGenWeb voted to incorporate the FLGenWeb Project as a Florida Not For Profit corporation. It remains associated with the USGenWeb. Rootsweb, however, would no longer host the majority of the FLGenWeb sites. Some of the counties chose to remain with Rootsweb and others chose different servers, but as of November 25th, 37 counties have moved and others are in the process of moving to the new server for the FLGenWeb. As with any major move, there will be glitches. We ask for your patience and understanding, as well as any suggestions you may have to make the process easier. As far as Escambia County goes, you may be interested to know some statistics. Our web site is almost 300 MB with almost 900 pages. It is HUGE. I completely dedicate the site to Ginny Deagan, who fostered it from the beginning. I am in awe of what she did and the more work I do on the site, the more in awe I am. Thanks to Ginny, the Escambia County GenWeb site may be the largest in the entire state (and probably other states, as well). Please help to continue what Ginny started by researching and contributing material for this website and the researchers who need it so much. I will do my best to get it on the site as quickly as possible. Thank you for your support and God bless.
