If you are looking for Duval County information the "Jacksonville Public Library is making the 1945 Florida State Census more accessible by digitizing and indexing each of the 90 Duval County precincts. We have transcribed the first 30,000 names." See their website at http://jpl.coj.net/coll/gen/1945census/ The librarian could use more volunteers, if anyone is interested.

Thanks, Bruce. That's good to know. Actually, the senior pastor at First Pres is a friend of mine -- moved there from Decatur, AL, where I live now. So I can lean on him to find the info for me. I appreciate the help. -----Original Message----- >From: Bruce & Connie Rova <[email protected]> >Sent: Apr 4, 2008 7:42 PM >To: [email protected] >Subject: Re: [FL-WFGS] Who was Rev. S. E. If he was associated with the First Presbyterian Church of Pensacola, he likely is shown in the John Appleyard book on the history of that church. I used to have the book, but donated it to the Friends of the Gulf Breeze library book sale about five months ago ... The PPL would have a copy I am sure, and you can stop by the Church itself. That is where I originally got mine when I was doing research on their records that help in family history research. That church has some wonderful records. From my notes for the presentation I did for a monthly WFGS meeting in November 2006, I show: First Presbyterian Church 33 East Gregory Street 438-9619 ask for Don Freeman. They may refer you to his home number to make an appointment. John Appleyard- good book on this church If Don Freeman is still there to help you, you will be assured of very good assistance. This church started in Pensacola in 1845. Their website is http://www.fpcpensacola.com Hope this helps. John, (I had just written this when Jerry's message came through, but I'll send it anyway for what it's worth." At this point, I only know his name was Samuel E. Robinson. He performed a number of marriages in the mid 1850's in Esc. Co. FL. As we (WFSG) are indexing the marriages, we are listing the names of the pastors and putting in the church or denomination if we know it. There is a Samuel E. Robinson, minister, in 1850 in Warrington. Ancestry index lists him as mulatto, but I don't think that is right. I think the census taker was just going ape with ditto marks and forgot he had one marked "m" at the top of the page. He is not listed in 1860. I am collecting names of early local ministers and what churches they served. When/if I find out about Mr. Robinson, I will let you know. Cynthia
I have the marriage license for my ggrandmother, Susan Vaughn, when she married George L. Jones in Pensacola. It is signed by "S. E. Robinson, Minister of the Gospel", on 13 August 1854. Can anyone here identify Rev. Robinson for me? Thanks.
He is listed elsewhere in the Escambia County Marriage Records as Samuel E. Robinson. Jerry Merritt Hi, I have been looking for the 1820 Escambia River area census—I have been told that my gggg grandfather is listed there with his family. I have not been able to find it online, or at my genealogy library. Do you have access, or if you can suggest where I can access it, I would be most appreciative. If someone does look-ups, I would be happy to pay them. I am looking for the family of James Williams Shine (s) . Thank you so much for coordinating this county! I plan to bring a pound cake.
The publicity has been great! I'll bring some cookies too, for Sat. I haven't been any help otherwise since our son had his surgeries in Jan and Feb. But I'll be there Sat to help in any way.
