May 19, 2002 Salt Lake Tribune Salt Lake City, Utah Verda Fitzwater Moore Sunday, May 19, 2002 DUCHESNE, UT - On a beautiful spring morning, our loving mother, grandmother, and sister, Verda Fitzwater Moore, age 94, passed away, Saturday, May 18, 2002 in Salt Lake City, Utah. Born Oct. 20, 1907 in Liberty, West Virginia the daughter of William H. and Lucretia B. Buckalew Fitzwater. Married Marvel L. Moore, April 15, 1924 in Vernal, Utah. Later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple, Nov. 26, 1924. He preceded her in death Dec. 1, 1990. Mom was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints serving in many church callings, including serving as a temple worker and two missions with her husband. One to Palmyra New York, and a two year mission to the Randalett Utah Indian Mission. Surviving are five children, Marvella Stevens, Dorothy Larsen, Doug (Connie) Moore, Doris Ann (Duayne) Johnson, Carol (Guy) Mayhew; brother, Jack Fitzwater; three sisters, Doris Bailey, Sarah Casper, and Georgie Matley. Also surviving are 18 grandchildren, 54 great-grandchildren, and 14 great-great-grand-children. Preceded in death by her husband, parents, one son Richard, three grandchildren, Pam and Danette Fenn, and Timothy Moore, three brothers, four sisters, and two sons-in-law. The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff at the Care Source Residence for the kind and thoughtful care they gave our mother. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 21, 2002 - 12 noon, in the Duchesne LDS Stake Center, 901 North 500 East, Duchesne. Friends may call on Tuesday from 10:45-11:45 a.m. prior to the services at the LDS Church. Interment will be in the Duchesne City Cemetery.
