November 17, 2002 Sherman Herold Democrat Sherman, Texas Round Rock, Texas -- Deborah Lucetta Fitzwater Seawell died November 15, 2002, after an extended illness. Deborah was born December 16, 1950, in Bonham, TX to Silas Paul Fitzwater and Lucetta Ellen "Babe" Arledge Fitzwater. Deborah's childhood was spent near Bonham in Boyd Community. She was a baptized member of Boyd Baptist Church where as a girl she often played piano at singing conventions. Deborah graduated from Bonham High School in 1969 with many honors and accomplishments, most notable being selection for the Texas Music Educators Association. All-State Choir two years in a row. In 1973, she received a Bachelor of Music Education degree from East Texas State University, Commerce, TX, and subsequently served school districts in Commerce, McAllen, TX, and Bonham. That same year on December 29, she married Philip Lee Seawell of Bonham, where for the next 19 years she ministered through music to the congregations of First Christian Church and First United Methodist Church. She was secretary for Palm Valley Lutheran Church in Round Rock, TX, at the time of her retirement. Deborah was a member of First United Methodist Church, Round Rock, when she died, having served that congregation as vocal soloist, pianist, organist, choir member; and handbell ringer. Throughout her life Deborah was in much demand for her artistry as a vocalist and pianist for various kinds of events, but her greatest love was ministering in music among the worshiping faithful. Deborah is survived by her spouse; three children, Kathryn Elizabeth Seawell of Austin, TX, Sarah Ellen Seawell, of Georgetown, TX and Lydia Claire Seawell of the home; brothers Bob Winkler, of Abilene, TX, and Larry Winkler of Whiteboro, TX; cousins Valerie Lappin and Donna Phillips, both of Bonham; father- and mother-in-law James and Kathryn Rodgers; sister-in-law Elizabeth Sloan; several other cousins, nieces, and nephews; and dearly beloved friends. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, November 19, at First United Methodist Church, Round Rock, Texas, with Rev. David W. Adkins and Rev. Elroy Haverlah officiating. An additional service will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, November 21, at First United Methodist Church, Bonham, TX, with Rev. Russell Floyd officiating. Committal to the earth will be at Willow Wild Cemetery in Bonham, Texas. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to the Deborah Seawell Memorial Fund, c/o First United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 1448, Round Rock, TX, 78680.
