March 2, 2006 Middletown Journal Middletown, Ohio FITZWATER, Edward D. Age 83, of Lebanon, Ohio passed away Wednesday, March 01, 2006 at Middletown Regional Hospital. He was born on May 13, 1922 to Edward John and Emma (Davis) Fitzwater. Edward enlisted in the U.S. Army during WWII and was went to the South Pacific where he served in New Guinnea and Biak and earned a bronze star. After R & R he was assigned to playing saxophone in an Army Band until the war ended. He was very patriotic and served in several offices in the veteran's organizations. He was a life member of the DAV and the VFW. He was also Commander of the American Legion, Post #218 in 1976, in Middletown, Ohio. Edward was a member of Holy Family Parish in Middletown, and resided at the Otterbein Retirement Home the last 5 years. He retired from AK Steel in 1984 from the Energy Management Department. Edward was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Loraine of 58 years of Lebanon, Ohio and a daughter, Linda Fitzwater of Middletown, Ohio. Visitation will be Friday, March 3, 2006 from 9:00 to 10:30 am at Baker-Stevens Funeral Home with mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am at Holy Family Parish-Holy Trinity Chapel with Father John Civille officiating. Interment will be at Woodside Cemetery with military rites by the American Legion Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 105 McKnight Drive, Middletown, Ohio 45044 or the P.A.W.S. Adoption Center, Inc. P.O. Box 684, Middletown, Ohio 45042.
