Fitzwater, 57, of Charleston, formerly of Moorefield, Hardy County, died at his residence Thursday, Feb. 14, 2002, of a short illness. Jake was a loving husband and friend to all. He was a retired insurance agent with 23 years of service with Combined Insurance Co., and a Marine Corps veteran. He attended South East Church of the Nazarene and was a member of the Charleston B.P.O.E. Elks 202 Lodge. He previously attended Walnut Grove Church of the Brethren. Son, Michael T. Fitzwater ; mother, Beulah Fitzwater; and stepmother, Ruth Saville Fitzwater, preceded Mr. Fitzwater in death. Surviving are his wife, Virginia "Ginny" Lantz Fitzwater of Charleston; son, Brian K Fitzwater of Clarksburg; daughters, Stacy L. Marion of Elkins, and Valerie E. Fitzwater of Charleston; brother-in-law, Victor Lantz of Cedar Grove, whom Jake raised; father, Noah M Fitzwater of Moorefield; brother, Randy Saville of Moorefield; grandchildren, Michael Marion, Tiffany Fitzwater, Megan Hustead and Brian Fitzwater Jr. Services will be 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 17, 2002, at the Nazarene, Kanawha City. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Feb 16, 2002, at J E Johnson Funeral Home, Kanawha City. An Elks memorial service will be held at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home. There will be a second service 3 p.m. Tuesday, Feb 19, 2002, at the Walnut Grove Church of the Brethren, Moorefield, with visitation from 1 to 3 p.m. at the church. The Rev. Ollie Parsons and Dr. Mervin Smith will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Moorefield.
