Here in Oregon I can access this database through my library, from my home at any time I want to! Because our tax dollars pay for this, it is free to the public. Our public libraries subscribe to the service. The information if FREE for the taking! You can locate census records (search engine is not as good as Ancestry, but you can find stuff!); you can use PERSI; you can see if your relative was in the Revolutionary War (then order his file!); and you can read books that have been scanned in. It is a wonderful research tool to help you locate your families roots!
