December 12, 2004 Beatrice Daily Sun Beatrice, Nebraska Dorothy Maxine (Fitzwater) Baker, 81, Wheat Ridge, Colo., died Tuesday, Nov. 23, 2004. She was born Feb. 7, 1923, in Beatrice, to Isaac and Maggie Fitzwater. She graduated from West High School in Denver, Colo. After raising her six children, she attended nursing school and obtained her nursing degree. She spent her nursing career serving in nursing homes. Her hobbies were sewing, crocheting, gardening and baking. Survivors: brother, Raymond Fitzwater of Loveland, Colo.; children, Carl, Michael, Sandra, David, Carrie, Judy; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her first husband Carl Wade Simmons (1973), and her second husband, Bob Baker. Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 11, at Crown Hill Mortuary in Wheat Ridge, Colo. In lieu of flowers any donations should be made in her name to the charity of choice.
