Because of this it is felt that it is time to remind the users of the message board as well as the mailing list about the rules. Ancestry, who owns the message board, has some very straightforward rules about postings. Please review the rules for Ancestry by going to the bottom of the message board page, and click on the link: “Message Board Rules” Here is the link to the Fitzwater message board: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec?htx=board&r=an&p=surnames.fitzwater At the bottom of the same message board is a link for “Message Board FAQ.” If you want to understand more about message boards, check this link. And if you can’t find the answer to a question you have, check the last link called, “Message Board Help.” Here you’ll locate answers to other important questions you might have. If you need further help, please ask the Fitzwater list Administrator. My e-mail is always listed under “Links and Announcements.” The rules for the Fitzwater mailing list are very much like those of Ancestry. RootsWeb sponsors our mailing list. The messages from the message board are “gatewayed” to the mailing list. For those who don’t know, any messages posted on the Fitzwater message board are automatically sent to the Fitzwater mailing list via the gateway! It is really rather handy! But, the gate only works this one way. Messages from the mailing list are NOT sent to the message board. If you would like to subscribe to the Fitzwater mailing list, or see the archives, follow this link: http://lists.rootsweb.com/index/surname/f/fitzwater.html At any time if you feel a posting on the message board is abusive, according to Ancestry’s rules, you can report the abuser at the Fitzwater message board page. Please read the rules so that you will understand what is expected of all posters to the board. If a person is found to be abusive, the person will be asked to refrain from the behavior. If there is still no positive outcome, the person will have their e-mail moderated. If this doesn’t help, their e-mail will be place on the reject list. This can last a week or longer. At the top of the page is a link called, “Links and Announcements.” This is information to help you make the best use of the message boards. Please read it at your leisure. If you want to know when anyone posts any message to the Fitzwater page (or any page), click on the link, “Add Board to Notifications.” Now, when someone posts a message on the message board, you’ll be amongst the first to know! Follow the links that are offered. You can’t break the page! (I already tried!) You’ll discover some wonderful ideas hidden in these pages!
