Wilmer Jack Fitzwater, age 72, of New Windsor, died Sunday, Feb. 6, 2005, at his home. He was born Dec. 2, 1932, in Baltimore, the son of the late Wilmer George Fitzwater and the late Catherine A. Fitzwater (nee Butler). He was the husband of Lorraine A. Fitzwater (nee Shipe). He had been married for 47 years. He was raised in Lansdowne, and then lived in Randallstown until entering the Army. He was stationed in Germany from 1951-1953. He was a machine operator for Western Electric Co. in Baltimore for 22 years. He was very active in the Seventh-day Adventist Church for many years, and loved Bible studies with inmates at Laundry Facility at Springfield Hospital. After retirement, he painted and renovated homes and did repair work in the New Windsor area. He was a member of Reisterstown Seventh-day Adventist Church. He loved gardening. He was the loving father of daughter, Donna Fitzwater and Larry Devilbiss of New Windsor, daughter, Doris and Ed Bowen of Westminster, daughter, Carole and Marty Spielman of New Windsor, and son, Darrin Fitzwater of Finksburg. He is also survived by eight grandchildren and one great-grandson. He was the dear brother of Dawn Zepp of Westminster, Bruce Fitzwater of Westminster and the late Joan Cutsail. A funeral service will be held Wednesday, Feb. 9 at 11 a.m. at Burrier-Queen Funeral Home & Crematory, P.A., 1212 W. Old Liberty Road, Winfield (Beside South Carroll High School), with Pastor Steve Wall and Elder Howard Bankes of Westminster Seventh-day Adventist officiating. Interment will be in Taylorsville U.M. Church Cemetery, Taylorsville. Friends called at Burrier-Queen Funeral Home & Crematory, P.A., on Tuesday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. -- Memorial contributions may be made to Westminster Seventh-day Adventist Church Gym Fund, 320 Crest Lane, Westminster, MD 21157; and/or Carroll Hospice Inc., 95 Carroll St., Westminster, Md. 21157.
