November 5, 2001 The Oak Ridger Oak Ridge, Tennessee Evelyn Fitzwater Jarvis Retired from ORAU Evelyn Fitzwater Jarvis, 79, of Oak Ridge, died Thursday, Nov. 1, 2001, at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge. Born Oct. 8, 1922, in Nallen, W.Va., she was the daughter of James Harvey Fitzwater and Elizabeth Jane Park Fitzwater, who are deceased. Mrs. Jarvis was retired from Oak Ridge Associated Universities where she had worked as an administrative assistant. She was a Lutheran. Mrs. Jarvis worked diligently in the 1970s for equal employment opportunities for women, her family said. After her retirement, she developed an interest in and a special talent for oil painting, watercolors and drawing. Her family said she always did what was right, even when it wasn't popular. Mrs. Jarvis is survived by three daughters, Elaine Jarvis and Nancy Hudson and her husband, Nathan, all of Oak Ridge, and Jane Garrety and her husband, Jeff, of Jackson; four grandchildren, Matt Hudson and Will Hudson, both of Oak Ridge, and Katie Garrety and Beth Garrety, both of Jackson. A private graveside service will be held at a later date at Oak Ridge Memorial Park. The family requests that any memorials be in the form of donations to the Alzheimer's Association, East Tennessee Chapter, 600 Henley St., Suite 50, Knoxville, TN 37902. Weatherford Mortuary is handling the arrangements.

My father's grandparents were Haymond Koontz and Prudence Fitzwater from WV. I believe they lived somewhere around Kesslers Crosslanes. I believe there is a Koontz family cemetery there. Could Prudence Fitzwater be in thta book? How do I obtain a copy?

June 20, 2001 Maryland Gazette Glen Burnie, Maryland Retired Gunnery Sgt. Leslie Gene Fitzwater, 72, of Glen Burnie (MD) died June 15 in Glen Burnie. He was born Aug. 4, 1928, in West Virginia and lived in Glen Burnie all of his life. Sgt. Fitzwater served in the Marine Corps from 1946 to 1971 and was a military supply worker. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 160, the Glen Burnie Moose Lodge, American Legion Post 40, the Glen Burnie Elks Lodge and the Fleet Reserve. Survivors include two daughters, Diana Fitzwater of Glen Burnie and Donna Nahnibida; two granddaughters; and two great-grandsons. Funeral services were held yesterday at Singleton Funeral Home (Glen Burnie, MD). Interment was in Maryland Veterans Cemetery.
