Fitzwater, 85, formerly of 1501 Kensington Drive, Hagerstown, died Thursday, Jan. 29, 2004, at Homewood Retirement Center in Williamsport. Born Aug. 10, 1918, in Jonesboro, Ark., she was the daughter of the late William F. and Gertrude L. Boone Malone. She was preceded in death by her husband, John T. Fitzwater, in 1976. She retired from Bohman Realty in 1992. She was a member of John Wesley United Methodist Church in Hagerstown, where she served on the Altar Guild among other committees. She was a member of the Lioness Club of Hagerstown, Antietam Garden Club, Retired Officers' Wives and The Retired Officers Association. She is survived by one daughter, Virginia L. Fitzwater of Hagerstown; one son, John T. Fitzwater Jr. of Hagerstown; one grandson, Christopher L. Schappell of Newport News, VA.; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one sister, Helen L. Nickerson. A memorial service will be Monday at 2 p.m. at John Wesley United Methodist Church. The Revs. Kenneth S. Valentine and Patrick L. Ricker will officiate. Burial will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Arlington national Cemetery in Washington, D.C. Memorial donations may be made to John Wesley United Methodist Church, Memorial Fund, 129 N. Potomac St., Hagerstown, MD 21740, or to a charity of one's choice.

He was born in Fairmont on July 9, 1972, a son of Don G. *Fitzwater* of Fairmont and Sylvia Hulderman Edwards, of Ohio. He attended West Fairmont High School and Fork Union Military Academy, a private college preparatory school. He not only excelled academically but also athletically, participating in varsity basketball, varsity tennis and cross country. He was a member of the Regimental Color Guard Battalion Staff and graduated with honors on June 1, 1991. Matthew attended Fairmont State College, majoring in aviation and general studies and continued his formal education in aviation at Piedmont Aviation, Morgantown; Tri-State Helicopters, Washington, Pa.; Flight Safety Training Academy, Fort Worth Texas; Heliflight Inc., Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; Airline Transport Professionals, Jacksonville, Fla.; and Bill Helicopter Textron Inc., Fort Worth, Texas. He was a certified commercial pilot and flight instructor, a member of the National Ski Patrol, Snowshoe, and a certified scuba diver instructor. As a pilot of both airplanes and helicopters, he had been employed by HealthNet, Morgantown; LJ Associates, Latrobe, Pa.; PHI Inc., Lafayette, La.; and Temsco Inc., Juneau, Alaska. He was a former flight instructor employed by Airburst Helicopters, Elizabeth, Pa. Matthew was a loving husband, father, son and brother.     3. November 22, 2003 Clayton Sun Times Smyrna, Delaware Jesse M. *Fitzwater*, 65 Jesse M. *Fitzwater* of Viola died suddenly Friday, November 14, 2003 in Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital, Dover. He was 65. Mr. *Fitzwater* was born July 2, 1938 in Lawn, West Virginia, the son of the late Albert F. and Rhoda Davis *Fitzwater*. He was honorably discharged from the Army Reserves in Rainelle, West Virginia after eight years of service. Mr. *Fitzwater* worked on the assembly line and later in the maintenance department for General Motors at the Boxwood Road Plant in Wilmington for 29 years before retiring in 1990. He was a member of the Church of God for 35 years, serving in several capacities, most recently on the Pastor's Council in Milford. In addition to spending quality time with family and friends, Jesse loved playing his guitar and singing gospel and bluegrass music. He also enjoyed vintage cars and was a fine mechanic. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend who was loved by everyone. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Jesse M. *Fitzwater* Jr.; two brothers, Arthur and Paul *Fitzwater*; and a sister, Anna Hamrick. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Nelma Gwinn *Fitzwater*; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Timothy M. and Rhonda L. *Fitzwater* of Viola, and Mark J. *Fitzwater* of Newark, Delaware; two daughters and sons-in-law, Jacquelyn F. and Charles T. Cannatelli of Clayton, and Deanna D. and Keith Sizemore of Winston-Salem, North Carolina; six grandchildren, Christopher and Matthew Cannatelli, Timothy *Fitzwater* Jr. and Tiffany *Fitzwater*, and Kaitlin and Kaleb Sizemore; four brothers, Ernest *Fitzwater* of Sandstone, West Virginia, Joe *Fitzwater* of Rupert, West Virginia, Delbert *Fitzwater* of Sheffield Lake, Ohio, and Roger *Fitzwater* of Ephrata, Pennsylvania; two sisters, Ruth Meadows of Brooks, West Virginia and Barbara Carter of Mt. Services were held Tuesday, November 18 at 1p.m. in the Milford Church of God, 500 North Walnut Street, Milford, where friends were asked to call November 17 from 6 to 9 p.m., and one hour before the services on Tuesday. Born Sept. 6, 1922, in Catlett, Va., he was a son of the late Cora Dayton and Elmer Sidney *Fitzwater*. He was the husband of the late Mary Ellen (Kuster) *Fitzwater*, who died in March 1999. Mr. *Fitzwater* served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was stationed in Germany. He owned a home improvement business from 1954 to 1994 in the Silver Spring/Wheaton area and was a member of Riverdale Baptist Church, where he taught Sunday school and volunteered as a school bus driver. Survivors include four children, Janice S. Fuller and her husband, Barry, of Damascus, Teresa A. *Fitzwater* of Damascus, Cynthia Scafide and Donna Lara of Maryland; one brother, Ivan W. *Fitzwater* of San Antonio; six grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter. A memorial service will be held at Potomac Valley Assembly Church, 22901 Ridge Road, Germantown, on Nov. 6 at 7 p.m. The Rev. John H. Bryant will officiate. Inturnment will take place at Arlington National Cemetery on Nov. 12 at 2 p.m. Visitors must assemble at the administration building no later than 1:30 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to the American Stroke Association, 415 N.
