January 30, 2004 Hagerstown Herald Mail Hagerstown, Maryland Virginia M. Fitzwater, 85, formerly of 1501 Kensington Drive, Hagerstown, died Thursday, Jan. 29, 2004, at Homewood Retirement Center in Williamsport. Born Aug. 10, 1918, in Jonesboro, Ark., she was the daughter of the late William F. and Gertrude L. Boone Malone. She was preceded in death by her husband, John T. Fitzwater, in 1976. She retired from Bohman Realty in 1992. She was a member of John Wesley United Methodist Church in Hagerstown, where she served on the Altar Guild among other committees. She was a member of the Lioness Club of Hagerstown, Antietam Garden Club, Retired Officers' Wives and The Retired Officers Association. She is survived by one daughter, Virginia L. Fitzwater of Hagerstown; one son, John T. Fitzwater Jr. of Hagerstown; one grandson, Christopher L. Schappell of Newport News, Va.; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one sister, Helen L. Nickerson. A memorial service will be Monday at 2 p.m. at John Wesley United Methodist Church. The Revs. Kenneth S. Valentine and Patrick L. Ricker will officiate. Burial will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Arlington National Cemetery in Washington, D.C. Memorial donations may be made to John Wesley United Methodist Church, Memorial Fund, 129 N. Potomac St., Hagerstown, MD 21740, or to a charity of one's choice.
March 26, 2004 The Weston Democrat Weston, West Virginia Tolley W. Fitzwater, age 95, died March 18 at his home in Glenville. He was born on June 28,1908, and is the son of the late William and Zonobia Fitzwater. He is survived by his wife Dr. Catherine Grant, 2 daughters, Josephine Hart, Johan Montgomery and her husband Leonard, 7 sons, Shirley and wife Fay, Jim and wife Janice, Lambert and wife Frances, Earl and wife Jo Ellen, Calvin and wife Carolyn, Robert Orton and wife Gala, and Rodney and wife Regina, 25 grandchildren, 38 great grandchildren and 10 great great grandchildren. Mr. Fitzwater is also survived by, Priscilla Bailey his long life friend and helper brother-in-law Jeff, Jim, Richard, and Kevin Grant, sister in-law Frida Grant Rubash, nephews Caleb, Jonah, and David and niece Jennifer. He was proceeded in death by his first wife Glenna Holcomb, his second wife Ethel Price, one daughter Barbara Hickman and son-in-law Bob Hickman, son-in-law Perry Hart, 1 granddaughter, and 15 brothers and sisters. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge #97 of Clay and the Fola Baptist Church. He was a member of the UMWA. He was a certified mine foreman since 1947 and he worked in multiple mines in Clay, Fayette, an Gilmer Counties. He retired from Rochester-Pittsburgh Coal Company where he was "fire boss". After retirement he operated a custom meat cutting ship in Glenville for several years. Funeral Services will be held Sunday at 2:30 at Stump Funeral Home in Arnoldsburg. Rev. Ronzel Roberts will officiate. Interment will be in the Meadow Lane Cemetery at Glenville, with Masonic Graveside Rites. Friends ma call at the funeral home from 4 to 9 p.m., Saturday. What can you tell me about him? Do you know anything about Laura Fisk? Where Elkana & Laura married or possibly what became of Laura's 1st. husband? Fitzwater, 71, of Harrisburg, entered into rest in the presence of his Savior on Tuesday, March 2, 2004, in the Community General Osteopathic Hospital, Harrisburg. Born in Elizabethtown, PA, he was the son of the late Robert W. and Maggie Walker Fitzwater. He was a member of Christ United Methodist Church in Rutherford Heights and was a Veteran of the Korean War receiving the Korean Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, and the Good Conduct Medal. He retired from Harrisburg Electrical Supplies Company and was a coordinator for Dauphin County Meals-On-Wheels. He enjoyed cooking, gardening, and was an avid Baltimore Orioles fan. He was a loving, kind and devoted husband and father, and is survived by his wife, Sophia Fitzwater; two sons, Michael Fitzwater of Hummelstown and Robert Fitzwater of Lewisberry; two daughters, Patti Johstonbaugh and Nancy Fitzwater, both of Harrisburg; one sister, Irene Still of Harrisburg and three grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 6, 2004 at 10:30 a.m., at Christ United Methodist Church, 6580 Mifflin Avenue, Rutherford Heights, with the Rev. Jennifer Hale-Williams officiating. June 18, 2003 Wharton Journal Spectator Wharton, Texas Memorial services for Barbara June Johnson, 54, will be held at 5 p.m. Saturday, June 28, at the Matt Johnson residence, 12124 Rychlik Road (CR 170 off of FM 442) in Boling. Mrs. Johnson died June 11, 2003. She was born Oct. 26, 1948. Survivors include husband, Don Johnson of Amarillo; sons and daughter-in-law, Mike Forseth of Rosenberg, Patrick and Melanie Forseth and Eric Forseth, all of California; daughters and son-in-law, Melissa and Pete Vega of Damon and Dawnette Johnson of Damon; grandchildren, Jessica Forseth of Amarillo, Cameron Forseth of Colorado, Kalob and Zachary Forseth and Jackson Forseth, all of California and Kylie and Kyndal Vega of Damon; sisters, Rosie Hunter and Carla Hernandez, both of California. She was preceded in death by her parents, Andrew and Freda Fitzwater; sister, Frances Brumeman; and brother, Bud Fitzwater. All were formerly of California.
30 April 2001 Baker City Herald Baker, Oregon Daniel Campbell Brown, 92, of La Grande, and a former Baker City resident, died April 19, 2001, at his son's home in La Grande. At his request there will be no public services. Private interment will be at Rock Creek Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Daniels Chapel of the Valley in La Grande. Mr. Brown was born Oct. 25, 1908, at Condon to Charles Arthur and Missouri Pearl Fitzwater Brown. In 1924 he moved to Baker City. During World War II he was stationed in Italy with the U.S. Army Air Corps, where he was an engineer on PBY airplanes. He was shot down twice. In December of 1948 he married Aletta Fae Dunn in Winnemucca, Nev. The marriage later ended in divorce. During his career as a teamster route man he drove a fuel truck and was a delivery driver for Crown Cleaners in Baker City. After moving to La Grande in the early 1950s he drove truck for Blue Mountain Distributing and later for Connie?s Distributing, from which he retired in 1973. In 1966 he married Mary Alice Goodwin in Winnemucca. She preceded him in death in July of 1997. Mr. Brown was a member of the Baker Elks Lodge. He will remembered for his love of life and the outdoors. He was an avid reader and dirt bike enthusiast. On his 80th birthday he took his last spin on his dirt bike before he sold it. Many will remember the dune buggy he built, and which is still in the family. Mr. Brown is survived by his children, Dan D. Brown of La Grande, Irene Trible of Albany, Gary Brown of Cordova, Tenn., Mike Kelly of Meridian, Idaho, Linda Beeson of La Grande, Norma Flanagan of La Grande and Dennis Goodwin of Condon; his sister, Doris Macomber of Lacey, Wash.; several grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.

Born Oct. 8, 1924, in Moorefield, W. VA., she was the daughter of the late Oscar and Ethel Mae Clayton Fitzwater. She was preceded in death by her husband, Guy Lee Ellinger. She was a member of Tomahawk Presbyterian Church. She was a member of the Community Education Outreach Service Organization. She is survived by two daughters, Janet L. Brooks and Carol A. Ernest both of Hedgesville; one son Kenneth L. Ellinger of Baltimore; two sisters, Pauline Cain and Edna Uphold, both of Moorefield; three brothers, John Fitzwater of Salt Lake City, Harold Fitzwater and Harry Fitzwater, all of Moorefield; and one grandson. She was preceded in death by an infant son, Robert L. Ellinger; one sister, Susan McCoy; and one brother, Charles Fitzwater. Services will by Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Tomahawk presbyterian Church. Pastor Paul Wolverton will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday at 10 a.m. at the church. In lieu of flowers, Memorial donations may be made to Tomahawk Presbyterian Church, 12896 Back Creek Valley Road, Hedgesville, WV 25427. Arrangements are by Brown Funeral Home, Martinsburg, W.VA.

Shadrack & Catherine (Baker) Calloway were buried in Birdville Cemetery located in Haltom City, TX a suburb of Ft Worth. Turns out most of the family is buried there, but it doesn't appear that either Eli or Mattie Fitzwater got buried there. Will post more info when it becomes available. Dave :-)
