In all the census's I have found with them being married it states the children and Amanda being mulatto. Her mother, Delila, is living with them on the 1856 Iowa state census and the 1860 and 1870 federal census and she is listed as being black. Once they appear on the 1900 census Amanda is listed as white. I am so confused. If there is anyone out there that can help me piece this together or have photos of the family to prove one way or the other it would be greatly appreciated.
