Yes, there was an Aide de Camp to Washington named John Fitzgerald; but determining and documenting which John fathered my GGGGrandfather was a problem. My GGrandfather was Philander, son of Joseph jr, who was son of Joseph Hawkins Fitzgerald. We have documentation on that much. For several years I researched the parentage of Joseph Hawkins Fitzgerald. I conferred with many, many other Fitzgerald researchers, most of them much more experienced in research than I. None of us was able to determine, for sure, which John Fitzgerald was Joseph Hawkins Fitzgerald's father, if even his father was John. I have transcribed all of the information my Grandmother left into my Ancestry tree. I'm sorry, but I gave up trying to go back further than 1772. If your research is centering on Joseph Hawkins Fitzgerald m. to Ketura Parkhurst, then Ketura's genealogy is! fairly easy to document. If anyone in your family has access to info in the LDS library, then perhaps thru Joseph Hawkins Fitzgerald's daughter Eunice Fitzgerald McRae's (married to Alexander McRae, LDS early bishop) baptismal records the parentage of Joseph Hawkins Fitzgerald could be recovered. I've been told that those are not available to the public. Sorry I can't be of more help. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
