Hi Marie, I have been studying the Fitzgeralds of York County, Maine and also those that were in Portsmouth, NH for a number of years. I have been trying to trace the ancestry of my gggmother, Harriet Fitzgerald (1813-1839) of Portsmouth. Eventually, I have found that she is descended from Daniel Fitzgerald of Kittery who married in 1770, Elizabeth Allen, daughter of Ezekiel. Daniel died by mid 1799 and Elizabeth married Josiah Beal in January 1800. I have yet to identify Daniel's father. There was a Patrick Fitzgerald of York who also married an Allen (Elizabeth) in 1745. Banks, in his "History of York, ME" notes that Patrick was the immigrant and he and his family were lumbermen who lived on Mt. Agementicus. There are still Fitzgeralds living there as far as I know. If you check the vital records from York and Kittery, you will discover that the Fitzgeralds married often into the Ramsdell Welch, and Allen families. They seem to be closely associated. My Ezekiel Allen was a Quaker as were the preceding three or so generations. If you are familiar with Banks, you know that he planned his "History" for three volumes, the third one to be genealogies of the local families, but he died before he completed the third volume. I have been hunting for his notes to this volume, but so far without success. Most of my research is concentrated on the 18th and early 19th centuries, so I probably don't have much on Horace and his close family, but nevertheless, I'll go over my files and notes for whatever I can glean on them. I also have Eastman ancestry, early from Haverhill, MA then to the Concord, NH area.
