    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: FITZGERALD, CARR, COLEMAN Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/1cW.2ACIB/558.654.764.803 Message Board Post: Can you tell me more about John Joseph and Mary (Bartlett) Fitzgerald being Bartlett Hawkins Fitzgerald's parents. I have been hearing about this lately, but haven't been able to get sources from anybody. Not even a list of evidence that leads them to believe it's true if there wasn't any undisputable proof. I've been trying to find his parents and siblings for ages and am excited by this, but I feel like a cheat adding them as his family if I don't have even a little proof. If you still need it, I have information on Bartlett Hawkins Fitzgerald. He's my 5xgreat grandfather. I've only found him referred to as Bartlett Hawkins when he served in the Revolution and in his pension records. He signed up when he was 16 and seved almost the whole time of the War. He said he was born in Orange Co., VA but it didn't mention who his family was. He recieved an invalids pension for the rest of his life for wounds he recieved. I have all his pension file, including a letter in which he told everything he did in the War which he dictated under oath and a doctor's report on his wounds. This was taken when he was in his 70's. He married in Albemarle Co., VA and finally settled on or near Fork Mountain in the Blue Ridge Mountians in Nelson Co., VA. It's sort of between Massies Mill and Montebello. I think just about everybody in Nelson County now is related to him.:-) His war records were corrected to read Bartlett Hawkins Fitzgerald at some point in time. In all other records I've got, marriage bond, deeds, etc. he used Bartlett Fitzgerald or Bartlett Hawkins Fitzgerald. I suspect he and Benjamin used alias during the War in case their side lost ;-) If the family had recently come over from Ireland, they knew the importance of covering their tracks if the British won. Please contact me if you want information or can direct me to the sources for Bartlett's parentage. I'd almost kill for them ;-) Robbie Robinson [email protected]
