Fitzgerald, Long-time city businessman dies (Jan. 2nd, 1974) Funeral service for Edward N. Fitzgerald will be at Queen of Angels Church Saturday at 10 a.m. Rosary will be recited Friday at 7:30 p.m. at Ridgeview Chapel. Mr. Fitzgerald, 78, of 106 Apple Lane, died Wednesday in Port Angeles. Burial will be in Ocean View Cemetery. He was born in Port Angeles Dec. 6, 1895, the son of James and Hanorah Fitzgerald. He was married to Goldya Morrison May 8, 1917, in Port Angeles. Mr. Fitzgerald carried on the business of meat cutting begun by his father and owned and operated the Fitzgerald Meat Market at Eight and Laurel Streets for more than 30 years. During the World War II he served with the Army Engineers. After retiring from the meat market he continued business activities in Port Angeles in real estate operations. He was on the board of directors of the Port Angeles Savings and Loan Association; chairman of the Clallam County Civil Service Board, and served in other organizations. He was a member of Queen of Angeles Church; a life member of Elks Naval Lodge; past district commander of Walter Akeley Post 29, American Legion; a member of World War I Veterans; past president of Olympic Knife and Fork Club; belonged to the Chamber of Commerce, Kiwanas Club and was an active Republican. He is survived by his widow at the family home; a son, Edward Nicholas Jr., of Florissant, MO; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; a brother Tom Fitzgerald of Bel Air, MD; two sisters, Mrs. Mary Frances Coolidge of Port Angeles and Mrs. Margaret Stroup of Bremerton. Pallbearers will be William Gellor, Charles Church, Charles Beam, Robert Polhamus, Clay Wolverton and John Schweitzer. Honorary Pallbearers are William Conniff, William D. Welsh, Charles Willson, Stanley Taylor, Don Smith, Ivan Smith, Elmer Critchfield and Joe Dailey. Contributions may be made to the Queen of Angles Church.
