I "finally" found out who Michael Albert FITZGERALD remarried to, yes, a younger lady from Greater Boston. They lived in Brighton (as suspected), but in 1950's they moved down to Bourne, MA. That's where they remained. Michael died there (1970's ??) and was buried there. His wife lived a long life, and an active life, in the town. I was able to obtain her "death notice" and it stated they never had children. It mentioned she had a nephew and niece in NH. I'd love to get to Bourne some day and see if I can find out more information, and attempt to find out which cemetery they are buried in. (I also tried to contact the nephew and niece to see if they had a picture to share, or had information they could share, but was not successful.) Betty (near Lowell, MA) (This family is not on my family-tree. I tried to help family-friends with their research.) Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. While I don't have any proof one way or another as to race I do have a picture which shows them in their later years. (attached you make the call) I wondered if this could be the real reason he was never acknowledged his parents again. I was always led to believe from my family it was because he refused to fight for the South during the Civil War and then enlisting in the Union Army. If this picture don't come through let me know? She married a Daniel Sarber(1808-1888) from Luzerne, PA sometime before 1850-that year's census gives her name as Sarber, haven't found her in anything earlier. The only record of her maiden name I have is her Sons of the American Revolution membership application-which gives her given name as 'Maragaret'. However, the SotAA form also identifies Clara Decker(another of my ancestors) as 'Clarad', so i'm thinking this may be a clerical error. Any help you folks can provide on this person will be most appreciated-I'm at my wit's end here. Thanks again Chris Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. (dont remember the polka dots though! hahaha) Do you still have a tree on Ancestry? I found a daughter of the youngest brother Bob. She lives in Kentucky now with her mom but didn't know much about him. Do you remember anything about him? Ma & Gramp have been gone for a long time now. I'm still living in the house in Royal Oak though. Used to love when Aunt Annie would come to visit. Check out my tree. Keep in touch and Happy New Year. I Hartwell Fitzgerald's Civil War pension file there is documentation showing that the government challenged Amanda's claim to the pension when Hartwell died because she was black and he married her in Missouri when interracial marriages were illegal. In trying to prove the legality of there marriage there is a letter from "Uncle Wood" Easley that says that Hartwell bought Amanda from Ahab Bowen and married her. I would be happy to share more information with you on this family. Kerry Jones Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
