Author: jacoffutt Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.fitzgerald/558.654.799.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Judy, I posted the Aide de Camp message early on in my Fitzgerald research and was never able to document that information. Yes, there was an Aide de Camp to Washington named John Fitzgerald; but determining and documenting which John fathered my GGGGrandfather was a problem. My GGrandfather was Philander, son of Joseph jr, who was son of Joseph Hawkins Fitzgerald. We have documentation on that much. For several years I researched the parentage of Joseph Hawkins Fitzgerald. I conferred with many, many other Fitzgerald researchers, most of them much more experienced in research than I. None of us was able to determine, for sure, which John Fitzgerald was Joseph Hawkins Fitzgerald's father, if even his father was John. I have transcribed all of the information my Grandmother left into my Ancestry tree. I'm sorry, but I gave up trying to go back further than 1772. If your research is centering on Joseph Hawkins Fitzgerald m. to Ketura Parkhurst, then Ketura's genealogy is! fairly easy to document. If anyone in your family has access to info in the LDS library, then perhaps thru Joseph Hawkins Fitzgerald's daughter Eunice Fitzgerald McRae's (married to Alexander McRae, LDS early bishop) baptismal records the parentage of Joseph Hawkins Fitzgerald could be recovered. I've been told that those are not available to the public. Sorry I can't be of more help. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Author: MFitzgerald45 Surnames: Fitzgerald Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.fitzgerald/2548/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Richard and Bridget Fitzgerald had at least two children born in Manchester, Lancashire - Elizabeth 1850 and Thomas 1852. I have full information about Thomas who was an army man - he had an older brother (probably Michael or John) whose name I do not know, who was also in the army. During 1850-1852 the Fitzgeralds were at Silver Street, Manchester but unfortunately the 1851 census for that district was severely damaged by water and is largely unreadable. I am trying to identify the earlier background of Richard and Bridget. Her maiden name was McLean or some variant of that e.g. McClane, McGlynn etc. Because of the damage to the census I cannot identify where and when either were born, and therefore cannot trace their marriage, ancestors, etc. Any information about them would be appreciated. I am happy to share descendant information from their son Thomas. Thanks. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
